This really has been the only unpleasant part of my The Legend collection. Truth be told, I was thrilled when these collections were announced; it would give me something to do, small objectives to accomplish, during my free time. With a full-time job and having (boring) adult things to do, I do not have heaps of hours to spend on gaming. Nor do I want to spend the few moments I get to sit down, relax and game a kittenasing coral nodes underwater.

First of all, why not pick something that make sense? The coral is a living invertebrate, Manganese Dioxide is an inorganic compound. It shouldn’t be found on coral… Anyways…

The question is more along the lines of:
Why chose an harvest nodes which has very few occurences all over Tyria AND can usually only be harvested once per node?

Or am I the only one whom gets very bad RNG on that? I got the Cobalt Salts for the blue paint in about an hour or two from running around and gathering iron. Right this instant, it has been about two weeks that my play time consists of opening Guild Wars 2, chasing coral nodes, and if it is a lucky night, I might get a vial of Manganese Dioxide. I don’t know if this is intended, or if I have been very, very unlucky, but it has truly killed my interest as of late. I’m currently sitting on 5 vials, and I need 10. I truly do hope it is not going to take me another 2 weeks to get that…

Have I been the only one this unlucky?

No. Only suggestion I have is to park all your characters near Aquabase Terror Seven in the southeast corner of Mount Maelstrom. There should be 4 or 5 corals in the area. They respawn in 1 hour. If you have only one character then a great time to do the harvesting is when Golem Mk II or Megadestroyer is up. That way you can potentially gather in several instances as people leave the map and you are asked to volunteer.

Well, to answer your first question… the coral in Tyria is saturated with magic which causes it to have a high affinity for manganese which it absorbs through the catalytic reaction of phosphites in an aquatic environment highly saturated with Quaggan urine and when that coral is also subjected to the acidity of Krait sweat (a rare occurrence) it triggers a catalytic reaction which bonds the oxygen in the water with the manganese in the coral to produce manganese dioxide.

Basic science. QED.

Just because it’s an inorganic compound doesn’t mean you can’t find it in a living organism.

The one compound that humans are made up of mostly is inorganic. Water is an inorganic compound.

As to why manganese dioxide, manganese dioxide can and does stain coral in real life.
