Just curious if Anet has any plans to implement Mantle support? I don’t expect it just curious. For those who don’t know what it is, it is basically a new Directx 3d renderer that is more for low end PC’s hardware and it is open source. Meaning Nvidia..Intel whoever wants to make it compatable to their stuff can. It releases uneeded workload on the CPU so it can basically.. ramp up performance pretty high for a lower end machine. It is also very console friendly to make them more able to handle the higher end games. That is what I know about it but im sure there is much more to it then this.

Mods if this is in the wrong spot put it where it belongs IDK where to put technical discussions at because it isn’t a technical issue.

Doubt it will happen if they dont even support 64bit or DX 11. Alot more people would profit from these instead of Mantle

I think mantle is really what GW2 needs, rather than some people’s suggestion of DX11.
The performance allocation is much better. On BF4, mantle gives at least 10fps boost over DX11. Ofc, GW2 is an MMO meaning the load is different than a FPS but I believe it’s pc gaming’s future and I sincerely hope GW2 can adept.

Mantle isn’t designed to be limited to AMD either. So in the future, Nvidia can also be supported.

DX11 and 64bit have much larger market share than Mantle. Most people wont have a mantle GPU anytime soon. http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

Don’t mix two things up. DX11/Mantle & 64bits are different. You can have 64bits & mantle.

Ofc it’s all on Nvidia whether to make their own or just use mantle. They have to adept sooner or later unless DX12 or up offers comparable performance. Mantle basically made supported graphic cards runs 25%+ faster. Meaning for the same price, AMD card will run faster than Nvidia’s with supported games.

Mantle would benefit GW2 more than DX11 ever could. Why? Mantle reduces the cpu overhead greatly. GW2 is a cpu intensive game. If you look at the reviews of Mantle, its a bit faster than DX11 but enormously faster with cpu limited scenarios.

This is why the benchmarks for bf4 show a 64 player scenario, since the 64 players make the game more cpu intensive than single player does. We already see this in GW2: In wvw the performance is bad because the cpu can’t process the information fast enough to send to the gpu and in places like LA the same issue repeats itself.

Reducing the cpu overhead entirely would give the game a huge boost in performance.

mantle have beter performance then dx11 around 40% on games where there are milion objects such as mmo or Bf4 the min is 10% so any new mmo gona have super edge against gw 2 in things like wvsw whit lower end pc and also its not at all hard to place it into older games and to make it part of the engine (client)server side

As far as performance goes DX11 is just as terrible as DX9, going back to engine coding just to just render like 1ms faster would be a complete waste of time.

Mantle would make more sense, but I don’t see it happening (unless they were already working on a PS4 release...).

Nvidia already has NVAPI, but nobody cares since using that propietary API would be (again) a complete waste of time.
