Guild Wars 2

I was wondering if I am experiencing a bug or whatnot.

The Map should be showing icons shown in the following link, http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Map
I’m a new player and it’s a pain trying to locate anything when nothing shows up on my map.

I only have access to the map completion icons and the resource icons when nearby. Nothing else shows up. No Vendors, no portals, nothing.

I can’t find any settings to change what is shown on the map either. (No Map related options appear under the Options menu)

I’m really hoping I’m just missing something simple here. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

As you level you’ll be able to see and use more and more items.
