Completing the map was a very intresting , not that hard , but timeconsuming thing to do. It WAS fun but after completing it once and then making a new character , having to complete it again from the beggining is a bit boring since you do the same things again and again , and it’s also time consuming which is a bad thing since you know tha game map already. Compliting the map once and then having it unlocked on all your characters might seems very nice but then we would’t be albe to get more gifts of explorations. So here is a little suggestion that i think would make every player happy : What if when you complete the whole map , alla the waypoints are unlocked on all characters and the fog goes away so you can see more clear and better? Would be really nice since you will be able to still complete the map and get all the xp and hero points but you will also be able to do it faster.
Thank you for your time and I hope you take in consideration this idea

This has already been suggested I believe and it falls under if it unlocks anything for free then you shouldn’t get the gifts anymore. I would just like to have the map unfogged for all characters once you have done it once, but it really doesn’t affect me anymore since I already got full map comp on all my characters.

The problem with the waypoints is that they’re tied directly to map completion. Other things are also tied to map completion like vistas, hero challenges and points of interest.

While it may be boring to go through map completion on every character, it actually provides a tangible benefit for leveling characters: experience points.

Every time you unlock a waypoint, view a vista, visit a point of interest or complete a hero challenge, you gain experience points. You’d also gain experience points through all the enemies that you’d face along the way (as long as you kill them).

Changing the way waypoints are unlocked would present a SERIOUS challenge for ArenaNet considering how many things are tied to it.

Firstly, the game is designed for players to run around and explore everything, waypoints being one of those things to explore and find. While your idea of having waypoints account unlocked still allows for that exploration to occur, it seriously reduces the ability of characters to ‘naturally’ explore the world. If a level 10 character can waypoint themselves to Orr, not only have they skipped all the content that would get them to Orr naturally, the character would not be acquainted with what’s happening there, but they also would be woefully unprepared to face those enemies. Remember, level scaling only works downwards in PvE zones, not upwards, so the hypothetical character would be instantly killed the moment they see an enemy. That’s not going to be fun. (They COULD uplevel characters like they do in WvW, but that would present it’s own challenges, such as the inability for characters to use higher tiered utility skills they havent unlocked. If a level 10 character is upleveled to 80 like in WvW, the elite skill wouldn’t be unlocked, causing all sorts of encounter problems that the designers would have to massively restructure their game for)

Part of the above is the way players face challenges. Different characters would have different abilities (assuming you change classes, this isn’t AS relevent if you simply create the same class with a different race), and thus, would make you unprepared to fight the same enemies in new ways. Also, if you play a new race, you’d have different starting zones and the enemies and encounters you face would also be different. Slightly so, but still different.

Secondly, there’s the experience problem. If they made waypoints account unlocked, how do they shift the experience points rewarded to players? They cant simply remove those experience points, they would need to shift them around, which would be a design hassle all on it’s own and require a lot of work and testing.

The above would take an extremely long time to do, would require a lot of time to recode everything, make sure that they work out all the bugs, multiple tests and funding that they could quite honestly spend on making future content.

It’s not a bad idea and would save loads of time for players, but the amount of work dev-side that it would take would be unreasonable to ask of ArenaNet when they would have to shift people working on future content to rework, rebuild and redesign old content. In the end, even if it does happen, there would be almost zero payout to the devs for it, and unfortunately we live in a world where the devs need money and they get that money from players.
