I’d like to know what you guys think about the Achievements from the marionette Boss at Lornars Pass?

For me personally, I absolutely dislike these kind of traits, which are in no way any kind of personal achievements at all.

The requzirements for all of those dodge attack achievements are just totally ridiculous and the whole combat design agaisnt the Marrionette just makes it even much worser, because you basically never have full control over it, at which kind of achievement you currently are working on. Everything is just permanently random and not in your personal hands of influence to turn the achievement that you are workign on at the moment into a real personal achievements,.

Theres nothing personal in these silly achievements, when ypou have to rely yourself on a ridiculous amount of like 124 other players, that they perform in the battle completely perfect without any mistakes, just so that YOU earn an achievements…

Really, whats wrong with those developers at Anet that are responsible for these kinds of annoying achievements, that make absolutely no sense at all in relationship of the whole achievement system at all.

Achievements are and should be ALWAYS personal challenging tasks, that you earn by 100% yourself and where your own personal influence based on your own player skills decides over the fact, if you are worthy or unworthy of the achievement.

But at these silly Marionette Dodge Attacks Achievements, where everyone has to participate in Phase 2 of the Battle without any single tiny mistake, you have onnly 1/125th of influence when you battle on a full map for maximum chances to win the battle

Then such nonsense, like splittign every player at phase 2 up by RNG into different randomized groups, instead of letting everybody exactly fight against that type of regulator ward, that is suiting to your PATH that you’ve defended.
Why the fricking need here to split and randomize all players up causing by this only chaos and shiftign the wardens also around, if one Pathbefore you fails, so that you won’t fight against the ward that you want to fight agaisnt, but instead you get sillily forced to battle agaisnt the previous ward which the other path before you failed against.

I think the Marionette Battle needs some redesign in regard of how the battle should work with those 5 paths and especially how players should earn the Marionette Achievements exchangign also some of them for better achievements, if you want to really give the game here achievements, that require group play and reward everybody for good coordinated group play.

Currently its 11 Achievements that are needed to get the Meta by either doing 11 times some silly dailies or doing the Achievements that come by the patch and are supposed to do to earn the Meta in my opinion the right way.
Some of the SAchievements are ok, because they basically are some Intro Achievements to guide the player to the big meat the real deal of challenging achievements.

I see already alot of people here in other threads, that share my opinion, that achievements should be always personal tasks. However, theres nothign wrong woth Group Achievement,s but Group Achievements can be designed good and they can be designed bad. – The Marionette definetely shows, how Group Achievements shouldn’t be designed ever.

In the next Part I will describe more the relating achievements, which I find good and which I find, should defenitely get changed to make the whole battle more interestign and challengign and not feel like a boring repetitive chore, where you permanently repeat the same crap 5 times in a row basicalyl and have always to rely yourself on up to 124 other people that they play the same as perfectly as like you, just so that YOU personally get your achievement (what makes by puke by this bad achievement design)

Alright – lets slow down that hate train.

I like the idea behind the achievements – however, a lot of the wording is either wrong or misleading. The dodge achievements for instance. Based off of the wording one can assume dodge one attack and you earn the achievement. However to do so one does not need to dodge simply not be hit by the atttack – at all for the entire phase – AND it needs to be finished successfully. Had this been clearly established I’m certain there would be much less frustration.

In regards to the level specific achievements, things get a little more dicey. If you enter a level you end up with the portal sickness, preventing you from entering other portals for 6 minutes or thereabouts, fundamentally preventing you from making attempts at the following few tiers. This brings up an interesting issue in that you might have some players not enter the portal and choosing to jump lanes specifically to attempt to get a certain set of achievements. As an example, last night I was in the second lane hoping for the last tier(Scream). Lane 1 failed at the sword level, and as such it was going to Lane 2. I already have the achievement for having dodged the sword attacks and had to choose whether I stay and help Lane 2 or jump to Lane 3 and hope.

First the Good Achievements:

Marionette Defender:
Simple and easy to understand and something that everybody will earn just over course of time, when you do the Event as often as you can. After 5 Runs you will have it, if you start the battle each time at one of the different lanes.

Marionette Dismisser/Tangler
Your obvious always having to exist Defeat the Boss-Achievement and one, that is just for fiun and reminds on the Fractal Boss, where you have to bow, now this time we have to cheer for victory, what simply makes sense and looks good, if everybody makes it at the same time

That was it already with the good ones, now the bad achievements

Marionette Deregulator
A boring silly achievement, that that should get splitted up into 5 different achievements. 1 for every own Champion and should be something, that isn’t dodge related and just counts for YOU personally, when YOU do something in the battle and not anyone of the other up to 4 random people.
The whole crap about if 1 lane fails, the next lane gets punished by having to battle agaisnt the Champion of the loosers laner has to get REMOVED ASAP.

Every lane has always to battle against one and the same lane specific battles, this makes the battle more clear and doesn’t punish other players when others fail at their lane by shifting the lanes champion up/down by 1 lane-mechanic, that makes no sense and tturns the whole battle only into a huge annoyance..

Marionette Muter, Sidestepper, Dodger, Lightfoot, Short Circuiter
Either remove these 5 bad achievements completely, which turn every fail for them in the game only into a massive internal shizzstorm of people calling names to each other and insulting each other into the most extreme way possible there is…

My Suggestion for them: Make out of these 5 Achievements just only 1 -and, that only counts for YOU without that you have to rely yourself on anybody else.
Achievemnt Points fro mthose 5 will get just added together for that one merged achievement, so that nobody who might already have done all 5 of them, will miss out nothing after the merge… so a 35AP achievement that you will simply get as a little extra reward, if you’ve done the 5 specific achievement for every single Champion.

Here now the 5 specific Champion Achievements that the Game should get:

Marionette Muter
Against that Champion that shrieks at players, players should earn this Achievement by knocking the Champion down/back at the moment, interrupting it by that way, when he wants to shriek at players.
If you stop the Champion from using his special attack, players will the achievements.
You’ll not earn it, if somebody different did that, you earn it. when YOU are the one, who interupted the boss.

Marionette Dodger
You should get this Achievement simply by avoiding by a dodge being hit by that ones Champions’s Spinning Attack, if the Champion then crushes into one of his own Mines, while you dodged its attack.

Marionette Lightning
That Champion, that launches Bombs, these bombs, turn them into a projectile attack that should be reflectable. Let people earn this achievement, if they successfully reflect those launched bombs back to the Champion to deal some massive damage to the Champion that way and win against him quickly in a smart way. If classes have nothign to reflect back, skills that simply block projectiles would work also for this achievement.

Marionette Side Stepper
Against the Champion, that is invulnerable to Frontal Attacks, turn this Achievement into a Group Achievement ant let simply everyone get it, if that Champion and the Regulator gets defeted/destroyed in less than 90 Seconds.

Marionette Short Circuiter
Against the splitting Champion, this will be also a Group Achievement, that you will earn, if you manage to kill the Champion without that the Champion splits itself up more than X times. If you manage to kill it under the Split Limit, then you earn the achivement, if the Split Limit is reached and the Champ is still living, then fail and do it next time better…

So that are so far 8 Achievements. 3 new ones to add to get back to 11 for the Meta Achievement.

New Achievments as refillments for the kicked out ones:

Marionette Devastator
Defeat as a whole Group the 5 Marionette Chains in under xx Minutes.

Lane Defender
Defeat a total Sum of xxxx Creatures in the Phase 1 Defense Parts of the Battle.

Cryptic Encrypter
Collect 25 Cypher Parts of all Cypher Types and one Energy Core.

These 3 plus the 3 good achievements + the 5 changed achievements would make up for 11 much much better Achievements in this whole living story patch.

Master Puppeteer
Do all of the 5 Marionette Champion Achievements

PS. it was no intention, that the topic basically reads as “MAD” xD, but thats exactly does it make me in its current state of these non well thought out achievements
