Is there any way to send mail to everyone in your guild? Would be really helpful to give updates when big changes occur to our guild, and not everyone reads the MOTD

send a mail to 3 and tell them to send it to 3 more, it’ll spread ^^
But no, thereis no good way, and you’ll be blocked for 5 minutes after sending 2-3 mails in the same time.

There really should be a way. This is a quality of life feature that’s very important I think.

Indeed, guild message could work, but not more, or gold seller will just spam everyone in the game with PM

You could just kick everyone who doesn’t read the MOTD.. you don’t need those guys anyway.

I agree, kinda disappointed that it doesn’t exist. You could prevent gold sellers by making it a guild leader permission only, or officers only, or something like that. Still, I’m glad that people agree with me this would be a nice feature

Id one up this and wish that guilds had an in game message board they could post to and check. We already know the trading post is built on a browser so I feel like this could be implemented. Perhaps data storage is an issue?

I hate having to send guild-wide mail. It’s a guaranteed 1hr commitment. Don’t know why they haven’t even attempted to bring about this QoL change.

This would be a good feature to have. Currently we just put everything on our guild website instead and tell people to go read it there. ALSO the inability to mail more people close together is a pain as well, as when you are sending people food and stones from guild bank for runs, you can only send it to a couple of people before being blocked making it take forever to send it to everyone who needs it. I can understand them wanting to block spam mail, but if it is from a guild member maybe they should remove the blocks on them.

There probably won’t ever be:

• It’s a quality of life issue for spammers and gold sellers, too.
• Mass emailing (5 or more) only affects guild leaders (and some officers), who are a tiny fraction of the community.

Mind you, I find the suppression at two emails frustrating, especially when trying to share potions or food and I’m know it’s worse for setting up guild events, lotteries, and rewards.

If you can figure out a way that prevents RMTs from abusing the feature, I’m sure ANet would be all over it. Until then, I think we’re going to see an increase in the number of restrictions, not a decrease.

edit: clarifying reference. Suppression at 2 emails probably affects everyone at some point; the OP was about mass emailing.

Maybe a bulletin board with an email notification would work? Rather than reusing the one MOTD, it would have a history of past messages, and you can elect when you publish the message whether you want to send email notifications of the new posting, and which ranks should receive the push message. The bulletin board could have a visibility filter on it as well, only allowing certain ranks to see it?

doh…should have read all the responses first. yes, like this.

As far as data storage, they track an awful lot of information regarding the guild already, and moving things in and out of the guild bank, this wouldn’t be that much more, and the posts wouldn’t have to stay around forever.

Not if you could only send the messages to guild members. Similar to the MoTD at the top. Could be a text box, type in it, click send, goes to the members in your guild roster.

If you’ve somehow joined a guild run by a gold seller, then I suppose you’d find out pretty quick.

Of course it would come up. Every time a gaming company adds a restriction, spammers find new ways to get around it. They would start using some stolen accounts to advertise or figure out a way to get their spam accounts (those bought with stolen credit card numbers) into large guilds and spam them.

And then ANet adds additional restrictions to the feature (which costs additional dev time, meaning we lose some other feature or bug fix) and the “quality” of the “quality of life” improvement goes down.

I don’t mean to say it’s entirely impossible. I do mean to suggest that gold sellers evolve quickly and there won’t be any simple solutions.

Agreed, there would be no way to avoid it entirely, but let’s hypothetically say that only the guild leader can issue the guild-wide message; the chances that a gold spammer happens to steal the account of a guild leader will already be very low. I don’t have any way to gauge %s, but excluding one to two person guilds used for banking purposes, how often could this possibly come up that the guild leader has their account stolen.

I’ve personally never known anyone whose account was stolen, let alone a guild leader specifically.

But, sure, I guess it could happen.

I agree the mail spam detector can be a little aggressive (and by little I mean mass sillyness).

I love some of the suggested ideas, guild chain letters would just be fun! As far as a feature goes that would allow this, what about buying some weird item from the guild vendor that lets you click to open a message and send it to your guild if you have the permissions to do so? Set a LONG CD on use, and that would solve some issues.

Heck, I’d just like to be able to send potions or food to my WHOLE party before a dungeon without having to remember to send someone an extra two so I don’t get hit with the mail spam blocker.

The little red exclamation-mark at the top of their screen. That will make them read this sooner or later.

Maybe we could also get a red exclamation-mark for changed MOTDs? That’d make more people read them.

to emphasize this isn’t a problem for just guild leaders but officers or just motivated members of the guild as well. It makes it really hard to want to organize something for your guild when you can only communicate with them one at a time. If your guild leaders allow gold sellers rampant permissions to get away with this crap you need to find a new guild. It’s a choice to allow that behavior at that point.

The message board system would work best though because it could be easily cleaned and moderated by guild leaders and officers and allows the whole guild t communicate on common topics of conversation without all having to be online at the same time. Maybe they can put an interactable bulletin board at the guild halls in HoT.

It would be very useful but I’m always terrified when tweaks are made to an in-game mail systems.

This would be a nice addition.
