This is just my wild guess, but I do think this is really legit one and we might see something like this.
By putting points into mastery gathering ,you master the ability to gather special nodes in Maguuma Jungle.
1points: you gain the ability to gather xxx nodes.
3p: You gather one extre node during gathering.
5p: Special nodes are marked on your mini map
7p: Chance for rare material to drop while gathering
13p: Every nodes can be gathered twice.
Some must fight so that all may be free.
