There seem to be a LOT of complaints out there about how this game “should” work as far as lack of progression, and raids etc.

Please take 5 minutes and watch this video, because I have seen it many times and listening to what was said in the video makes it hard for me to listen to all these complaints.

ArenaNet’s Guild Wars 2 MMO Manifesto

I would like to see some feedback from unhappy gamers after seeing that video and knowing it has been on YouTube and their website for well over a year.

Definitely a good video. I am surprised I sat through the whole thing again lol.
I do feel like there are too many complaints on this forum and it pisses me off. I almost wish they would have left the forums shutoff for a few months.

I just don’t understand why we get all of these threads about people leaving the game. Good grief, there are loads of hours of gameplay here. I have 60 hours in and I have a level 27 Warrior and a level 24 Ranger. I have just scratched the surface. For me to get $1 an hour value on a game is amazing in itself. I got to be honest, I probably have 2 dozen Xbox games still in the shrink-wrap. Most games I play get loaded up once and they will be lucky to ever grace my screen again. I am loving this game and just taking my time. Even for the crazy gamers out there that blow through 200 hours of gameplay in 200 hours, I don’t know why you would suggest you are leaving. Leaving permanently, or just until more content arrives? Why leave forever? This is only the beginning of something great.

I appreciate all of the effort that went into this game. It really breaks my heart when there are so many people with bad things to say about it. The message I typically get is, “I had fun, but it didn’t last forever.” I think that is the best way to describe it. Some gamers expect to buy an online game and assume they will be entertained for a lifetime. I am sorry, but it isn’t going to happen with any game. No there is no gear grind at the end of the game. Sorry about that, but a lot of people despise that . There is no freaking way I can commit countless evenings of my life to a raid. I CAN’T DO IT. Most people can’t! Most people have other things they want to do, but really enjoy a good game once in a while. In World of Warcraft I feel the same way you guys feel about hitting level 80 in GW2. There is nothing for me to do in WoW at 80! You will claim that is when the game begins, but not for me. Hell no! I am not going to commit my precious hours of life to that gear grind.

The bottom line is there are hundreds of thousands of players out there loving what this game has to offer. Please don’t be discouraged ArenaNet! Keep your dream alive! You are doing wonderful! You cannot please everyone! If you make 50% happy you are doing well. Just look at our American presidential election and how it has been so close in recent years. Since 1988 the popular vote margin has never been greater than 8.51%!

The MMO manifesto video is what first got me interested. It is not as they say. The quests are even more grindy than WoW, and it doesn’t even have an endgame.

If you were keeping up with this game since the Manifesto release, you would have known that Gw2’s endgame isn’t WoW’s cookie-cutter endgame. So why did you buy it?

lol… Any how do they get more grindy than WoW? At least you don’t have to march back to turn your quest in or find that elusive quest giver. In WoW the NPC will say “Wolves are attacking our camp! Please clear them out!”, while the wolves are standing out in a field. You kill 10 wolves and return. “You saved us! Thank you! Here is your magic weapon!” In contrast, in GW2 monsters actually do come into the towns and attack! And you do have to drive them off or the town will be occupied!

Change the ! into a <3 and wait around for mobs to attack the area instead of taking the fight to them. Sounds like a revolutionary change to me…

Lmao, the ammount of contradictions in that manifesto.

99% of the hearts are boring quests.

I literally swing my sword over and over again because you only gave me 5 active moves per weapon.

“In guild wars 2 we dont want the players to grind over and over again for the fun stuff” actually having nice looking gear is fun to me arenanet and you are making me grind 1500 tokens which equals to 375 bosses in the same dungeon.

“In other mmos they dont make you feel like a hero, your all doing the same thing, boss respawns 10 minutes later” oh …. wait, thats dynamic events….. in a nutshell.

The big problem is alot of these “nice features” are not LONG TERM. they are the flash that makes up that 1-80 play through then your done, like many of us. with no real structure and thought into the end-game your left with PvP, a realm v realm where you have no real insentive to do it due to it not being very progressive … and literally no good end-game dungeon crawling structure.

So please, don’t link a video to me that is designed to build up hype.

You ever heard of WvW? They provided a battlefield for you. You can take your fight up against another server.

I think Guild Wars 2 is not the right design for hardcore players, yet. Casuals are happy with the game, also, some hardcores too -including me-

ANet should be aware of those hardcore players and their expectations from Guild Wars 2, so I believe, the first expansion pack will be good news for hardcores.

Actually TSW isn’t very much like WoW at all, it’s actually a lot more like GW2. I’m really pleased to see two major MMOs moving away from mechanics which I personally don’t like.

Rift is still going strong, the only real wow clone to work, because they pump out more content than WoW does.

Guild Wars 2 is different and screams quality in engine and design. BUT IT LACKS ANY LASTING CONTENT.

So no, they havn’t proved anything yet.

Disagree.

See, I can make completely subjective points and use them as fact, too!
