Maybe time for anet to move thier servers?
yeah, this is starting to really negatively effect the game.
Some sort of massive announcement on this and plans to prevent, stop, or hinder this would be a nice show of faith.
at least acknowledge that it is happening and say your doing something about it. The lack of communication toward your players is absurd
easier said than done…. im sure there are many aspects involved than just:
‘you know what guys, tonight we shall be using this provider for our game, tomorrow will be another one to keep you devs on your feet’ …..

Unstable Shield, Unstable Light
Yes, because it’s so easy to just up and do that.
Plus, the only thing that acknowledging and raging about this does is giving the perpetrators a good laugh which is exactly what they’re after.
Unfortunately any decision on this front would be up to NCSoft (Anet’s parent company) to make. Anet really has no control over it; NCSoft is the one that has the game on the cloud servers that are getting hit.
If you think something should be done, please tell it to NCSoft, not Anet.

That is true, why give acknowledgement to those who attack your game.
Something will obviously be done, considering the scale of the attacks are so large.
As Kalachris points out – it’s NCSoft’s servers, Arenanet doesn’t have a whole lot of say in the matter.
Also it’s a DDoS, it doesn’t matter where your servers are, they aren’t impervious to an attack if someone decides to do so…

Nah,
Anet would have some power here in suggesting to NCSoft that they need a change in servers.
You’re correct Orphan, but the key word is “suggesting.” I guarantee you that ANet and NCSoft both want to fix the issue. But it’s just not a simple issue to fix. Moving a game this large over to an entirely new server hub is a major undertaking.
These cloud servers work fantastically 99.9% of the time. It’s only these DDoS attacks that are causing trouble, and the solution doesn’t even require moving to new servers. The cloud server itself needs some of its code tweaked to prevent these abuses from happening.
So really, the people you should be talking to about fixing the issue is CloudFlare.
You don’t just “change servers”. That’s like saying “Oh since this apartment building is getting vandalized, management should just relocate everything to the building down the block”.
First of all, that’s not a feasible solution to implement. Second of all, it won’t prevent the vandal from walking down the street and continuing on your new building.
Since Anet has been silent on this, how do we know with 100% certainty that they use the cloud servers and that they are being DDOS’d?

Because all NCSoft products are being effected by this and it would be a remarkable coincidence for GW2 to have issues at the exact same time and be using different servers – especially when they’re owned by NCSoft…
