Yesterday, with the patch capping agent of entropy and hobby dungeon explorer at fixed points, my achievement points went down a significant bit. Now I am asking, why can’t we get some compensation for this loss? We have spent time doing it (by “We” I mean all the salvagers through the Tyria ), we have spent money doing it. To me it feels like you have removed all the legendary weapons from the game saying “they were bad for economy anyway, but we have replaced them in your inventory for a random masterwork of the same type”. Also, I will not agree with anyone saying we were abusing an exploit, this was no way an exploit, the only reason it was capped was because of the implementation of leaderboards (therefore, I agree with the decision of capping it, it wouldn’t be very wise to keep it that way. I just could live without leaderboards and stuff related and no points (=now the time wasted) could be removed).

Well, this isn’t a QQ post, just a serious question to the developers, because I’d find it fair to compensate people for taking back what they have earned throughout the game.

honestly i think that a salvaging achievement shouldn’t have to be there in the first place.
it was the only mechanic in the game that awarded you for doing nothing special other than buy white items at a merchant (not even from the tp) and salvage it over and over possibly with Lynns salvage kit (250 uses each).

this achievement should be awarded for salvaging rares and exotic maybe in that case a cap wouldn’t be necessary

Since the achievement points were doing exactly nothing up to now (and still are, until leatherboards are open for viewing), you haven’t lost anything as well. And the devs said they will do something about infinite achievements for few months already, so it’s not like there was no warning.

You already got a very big compensation. Your worthless 10k points were buffed to an impressive 5k points. While that may sound contradictory, I invite you to think about it for a minute.

Hobby Dungeon I don’t sympathize with (nothing else screams ‘’CoFp1 on infinite repeat ’’ and the associated mindless zerker war farming elitism).

But Agent Entropy gets my nod. As an enthusiastic salvager (up 72pts through casual farming of all sub 60c white DROPS and salvage trophies) I can see myself getting 250pts and beyond over the GW2 lifetime.

I like that the AP system effectively tracks my casual salvage record (not that’ll I’ll ever make a business to mass buy items on TP to salvage for AP and profit like my Guild Leader who has over 200AP in entropy).

Placing a cap on Entropy feels wrong. Its like the game has refused to acknowledge my time to buy its salvage kits to break down trash for raw materials to craft and sell. I don’t care if in the future they gave only 1 AP per 10000 salvages, don’t cap my salvage tracker!!!

On another topic; are they going to cap points from daily too? Cause you know, infinite AP points just for jumping through Anets hoops on a daily basis is just so fair on comparision (like I would ever salvage 900 items for the equivalent points in a day)

We have spent time doing it (by “We” I mean all the salvagers through the Tyria ), we have spent money doing it.

Devs have warned you a couple of months ago that this would happen, at the time when it was announced that people would get rewarded in some way for the number of achievement points they have. “Don’t boost your achievement points through endlessly repeatable achievements because you’re only wasting your time and money.” I don’t know why anyone would whine about it now.

Agent of entropy was just silly. if it wasn’t capped then achievement points would be meaningless. With 50g you could get 10000k achievement points if you didn’t break your fingers from clicking. It doesn’t cost anything to salvage items if you do it correctly.

9 times out of 10 I make a small profit from salvaging groups of 500 items. It is not a meaningful profit, I wouldn’t do it as a money making method, but it means that money is not a limiting factor, just how fast you can click.

Personally I don’t think “clicked my mouse 10000k times” is worth any compensation.

are they going to remove all legendaries and all precursors when they implement the scavenger hunt?

because its essentially the same thing removing your progression when they don’t need to. this could easily have been avoided by performing an extra calculation for the rankings

total acheivement points = leaderboard position 1
total acheivement points – infinite repeatable = leaderboard position 2

and then just have 2 leaderboards, one for everything and one for “official” rankings

or just have the second and leave the total progress viewable on their account.

i wish the devs had a consistent vision and didn’t push out content they know is flawed

50g? Better revise your numbers. It’s more than 1000g.

You already got all the gold and loot from the dungeons, and all the materials from salvaging. That reward is enough.

Excuse me, but what else are you doing in the game except of “clicking mouse”? double tap 1000 drakes doesn’t sound much different in this concept, does it?

Considering the achievement points didn’t do anything at all I don’t really see that anyone has lost anything.

They didn’t do anything, yet we have lost one very important thing – time.

This^ – I don’t understand why they would actually remove anything when they could have done something like this. Since achievements are important and they are trying to make them more important it doesn’t make ANY sense to remove them or cap them.

Not really, big bunch of those points were made pre-warning. Warning also wasn’t officialy posted, just a devs word in one of forum topics, easily missed for most people.
