Hi. Setting shadder setting from low to medium makes the normal maps of the 3D assets to be taken in consideration for higher detail display. It also enables reflections. Setting shader settings to high makes the Guild Wars 2 graphics to look a bit wierd because there seems to be some sort of global illumination that makes the characters look unnatural. (It is like a white glow/aura,visible in any environment) . In my oppinion, setting the shader quality to medium makes the character look better, while maintaining the normal maps effect.

I know it’s probably an objectively personal preference, but I also really dislike the look of the High shader setting. Everything ends up looking shiny/wet (even things that shouldn’t) and it lends an overall plastic-y look to it all.

I’ve thought this for quite some time. Even my dark brown/black charr’s back shines white. It’s particularly annoying with dyes, making abyss look like pitch.
