Isn’t that one of the core principles of GW2? Then explain the way for unlocking the trait in Lyssa’s temple.

I’m not complaining about the players that do the defend event or the players begging of map chat to let it fail, I’m questioning the design decision behind this.

That should really count defences as well as attacks for the trait…

In terms of design, it’s an oversight. They either figure it’ll calm down as people gradually get the trait done, or they’re already planning to change it.

Just remember though, it’s not the players’ fault for wanting to succeed the defend event. I know you already said you weren’t complaining about those players, but a ton of people are.

I wonder how many people get to the temple, see it defended once, and then rage quit.

Nah. They should simply bring back the priestess event regardless of the defenses after a while. A forced reset. For example, 2 hours after the capture, the defense event will straight fail from a rogue Risen Plague Carrier that manages to runs to the shield generator and explodes (because it was low on charge or something like that).

If they just count defenses, people will still miss the event, and many may want to actually get to fight the bosses.

Before megaserver it was never defended, I think that was the premise they were working with.

I still do not have the Grenth trait. Not one single time have I seen the temple out of player control since the patch released.

It’s just another gold sink so you buy the trait instead. Another inconvenience.
White knights can twist it as much as they want but it is that simple.

Does it have to be out of player control for any of the traits? I just got my thief trait for fighting the risen priest of Grenth- he appears even when defending. I was told on map chat that Lyssa is the only one impeded by defending.

Edit:

I’m pretty far from a white knight- I think my posting history speaks for itself- and I don’t believe this is meant to be a gold sink overall.

They patched Melandru and Grenth to award the trait unlock on successful completion of the defend event specifically for the reason people are complaining about Lyssa as well. I wonder why they didn’t patch the Lyssa event as well? I would guess there are some metrics on completion of that one in particular they are still observing. Or…they just missed that one.

As for meeting players frustrating other players, I am reminded of the former Lyssa risen farm where players were preventing the event from succeeding intentionally. And also of the current Queensdale champ farm. It’s hard to keep players from stepping on each others toes to reach their goals when they come into conflict with each other. On the whole, there are few situations like these. And in some cases, Anet does step in where they feel it warranted. I’m guessing Lyssa will be patched too if they find that enough people aren’t actually unlocking traits in that event.
