[[Gates of Madness]]
Guild Officer of Phoenix Ascendant [ASH]
Tonight I was trying to lead my guild and do guild missions and with this new Megaserver thing it made it kitten near impossible to do the guild bounty.
The problems we ran into were:
1. The fact that the guild was scattered across different map flows so we had to taxi everyone in to our map which, with a big guild like ours, takes up a bit of time. So having a minute left to get everyone to the bounty person is irritating.
2. We had an issue where when we got on the map for the bounty there would be another guild already killing the bounty, that combined with the need to taxi 3/4 of the guild to the map made it really frustrating.
We went through 2 bounties that we didn’t get to participate in causing me to activate another Tier 3 bounty, as they say the third time was the charm and we finally got to do one. However I shouldn’t have to go through the activation of 2 Tier 3 Bounties to get ONE done, this was never an issue before now.
I mean if Megaserver is supposed to be doing what Anet is saying it’s doing then it should be no problem that, at the very least, my guild would be all together.
And while i’m fine with trying to communicate with whatever guild might be currently stalking the same bounty we also happened to go after, it’s one thing where I am able to accomplish that and then the two guilds do the bounty together (We do that on GoM all the time before this Megafailserver thing happened) but 9 times out of 10 thats not going to be the case. It’s a little to late to say “Hey can you hold DPS so my guild has time to get over there?” When the bounty is at 10%.
I’m also curious too see how other guilds have been fairing with the Megaserver thing while doing their missions.
We lost 2 guild challenges because guilds already started them.
My guild’s voip service is currently full of people complaining about this is making our missions take so much longer
Yes, that have to be fixed.
We have really better things to do than to spent 20-30 minutes to taxi all people to missions.
It is annoying and takes the fun.
We didn’t have a problem with people showing up on different servers…but we did struggle with multiple guilds all doing the same thing at the same time. Puzzle was the worst. Not surprising given the timing and coordination requirements. Rush was not too bad…another guild had started it with about 17 minutes left so we joined in and got it done. But…yeah…I think we are seeing some unexpected impact and hopefully it will be addressed in the near future.
Ran into this issue tonight while trying to complete a guild puzzle. Had people on two different servers and didn’t realize it until almost too late. Caused confusion because we all thought we were on the same server since as Anet has previously indicated we should have all been on the same server. On top of that we had one guild in the puzzle when we arrived and at least three more guilds show up as we were waiting. Everyone went at once and while it was confused we did manage to complete it. Anet should consider making these events instanced.
Guild bounties respawn right after being killed, I’m sure you know that.
Missions are a total pain in the kitten post-Megaserver. One of our usual mission nights is Saturday night at reset, which is a common time for many guilds. The ultra-condensation of players means that everyone is trying to do missions on the same map at the same time.
Either we are getting people stuck in alternate maps or else we are screwing other guilds over, or else getting screwed over by other guilds that are starting the same missions.
Same here, guild had trouble getting in hits with 60+ other players doing the same bounty.
Rush was a kittenaotic as well with 6 other guilds doing the same rush.
Guild bounties respawn right after being killed, I’m sure you know that.
Yeah, but then you have to find it, and that takes time.
We also had problems doing our weekly guild missions due to maps being megaserver’d. As I said in map chat:
“I can see this becoming very annoying very quickly”. Very large guilds are going to be hit hard with this one.
For us, post-Megaserver Guild Missions were very hit or miss. My experience may be different in that I’m a member of a smaller guild on a low-pop server.
The high points:
The Guild Rush is much easier with other people on the map to join in and help clear. Having several guilds (or even more random people) running the same Rush at the same time makes things easier.
It’s also a lot easier to find Guild Bounties with more random people on the map.
The lows:
The Megaserver managed to split up our Guild and even my specific party trying to get to a Guild Bounty, and with that bounty stalked by another Guild, we didn’t have time to get people to the bounty. Furthermore, it wasn’t obvious which of our players was in which version of the zone. We had one player tag the bounty on one zone version when another guild activated it just before the group on the other zone version could start the event, so the second group couldn’t get credit. Worse, this happened twice in a row. This could be partially avoided if we could do the same bounty target repeatedly even if it had been completed once already on that mission.
There’s also an issue with our Guild getting credit for a Guild Puzzle that we stood outside waiting (with three other Guilds) for the Guild inside to finish. We were lucky and re-rolled the same puzzle, and were able to smoothly complete it with the other Guilds that waited outside.
