Megaservers and Map Chat
Actually, for the mega-servers actually help make the community seem nicer. people heal more often, Talk, fool around, and general fun and helpful! Before there was a lot of negative pent up people strolling around pushing others down O_o.

I just ended up switching off map chat. I couldn’t tell if the level of idiocy was down to the megaservers, school holidays or an influx of trolls who hung around after the free weekend, but I’d had enough.
Generally, the influx of idiocy hasn’t been reflected by the players I tend to come across in the world who are more than happy to group up, heal, take on bosses and have a laugh.
Also have mapchat off, since my first trip into Queensdale after the update. If anyone wants to talk in /say then great but otherwise I have no problems missing out on champs or anything else that might normally have been interesting.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
Yesterday I reported someone for verbal abuse for the first time since I started playing this game.
I just report and block, and if it’s just annoying but not harrasing, I simply block.
You get people like that in all parts of the game. Had someone bring up what could be a touchy subject for people in a fractal party ytd, as an insult.
What I hope is anet looks at the reports as soon as possible and suspend or ban people as necessary.
There is no need to insult anyone. You’re just going to see more of it, when there’s more people around. Don’t engage, block&report the individual/s and move on. No need to hide the entire map chat
I’ve had a pretty good experience with the megaserver so far. There are more people in each map, so I’ve seen a lot of people teaming up for events, healing each other and helping out in general. It’s made things far more fun.
Yes, there are some obnoxious people in map chat, but that’s what the block/report functions are for. I’ve found that most people are great – it’s only a few bad apples causing grief.
I feel your pain, OP. I feel like I’ve been tossed into WoW’s trade chat, to be perfectly honest. Map chat shall never see the light of day on my game again.

The only time it really bothers me is when people type in fragments.
Person: Need help with the champ at ____.
You get-
Person: Need help
Person: with champ
Person: at
Person: ______
I’ve been on the internet long enough to ignore trolls and stupid comments. If the map decides to play the Quaggan Movie Title game, I just turn off map chat.

Indeed. I have not seen Grenth fail since launch….until Megaserver. Last night me and 6 other people rushed it and finished it before the masses could arrive. It was fun. Of course I don’t waste my time lecturing people in map chat. It doesn’t get you anywhere. Clerics wanna heal and bearbows wanna pew pew. Not my fight to fight there. However, whenever I do need something, I find it’s easiest to go it alone and avoid the scaling.
Many of the players we see out there are not very good. They are out for another shot at events they couldn’t ever do. Soon they will either learn, or give up again and leave things to players who do know how to play. So that’s a good thing to keep in mind. No sense in arguing over map chat with them for it .
