condi druid probably

They wrote “newb”, so it’s unlikely they already unlocked any Elite Specializations. Also, Condi Druid is not a melee class, except for torch skill 5 and the traps you fight at range.

I would recommend a Condition Guardian or a Berserker Warrior.

torch 5 is the best damage output for condi ranger/druid and i never see them too far from the enemies.
but anyway guardian (i would suggest power greatsword for the bursty damage, or any other combination, guardian is good at everything) or warrior as suggested above but more boring than gardian in my opinion.

Warrior, especially with the Greatsword.

Condition Berserker with GS & Axe (main), Torch (off-hand) was pretty good for me. Axe & Torch is also fun to boot

I feel dagger necro or greatsword warrior either would fill what you are looking for. very high health pools and good burst damage.

Yep.

It confirms that all is right in the world to see a 500 AP Warrior running around Tyria, with 5 signets and a greatsword on his back.

…along with your bear-and-longbow ranger buddy. but seriously, though, it doesn’t actually matter that much if you play something with passive buffs and a simple weapon at the start of your game.

By the time it actually matters, you will have learned an awful lot about how to play, and the training wheels will come off. Remember: not everyone is actually a decade-or-more MMO veteran who came to GW2 with all that history and prior knowledge to draw on.

Yeah, I’d have to go with either Necro or Warrior.
