Melee or no Melee
I also think melee is 150 (emm actually 130 it is.. i think)
It’s not Melee until the shortest range can hit you. Really close but out of range for the base close range weaponry doesn’t count. To use the term otherwise would make conversations very confusing.

Ele uses a melee weapon, for me its attacks are not melee, just close range.
However, any close attack like this is technically defined as melee.
I however, fly in the face of definition and prefer to define melee as something I can walk up to and smack between the eyes with something solid. There is after all, nothing in (gaming) life that can not be solved with a giant hammer..
yours, a warrior
I find it more of a ranges of things there melee and close ranges as in 300-50 mid ranges is more of 400-1000 and long ranges is 1200-1500. There there is a defining of if an attk is projectile or not say for Guardian 3ed sword hit Sword Wave its a melee ranges 120 (i was wrong its 300) but its a projectile so it will be shot back by skill and blocked by anty ranges attks.

Ele might be considered in ‘melee’ range, but the attacks aren’t actually melee. Yes you have to be close, but you don’t have a single skill that actually requires you to land an attack with the actual dagger, it’s all magic based.
Unlike a thief’s D/D where you actually stab them.
All about range. Mesmers use greatswords at long range and Rangers use axes at range and Eles use daggers at mid-range. Imo, melee is 130-150, where the weapon is in the player’s hand and is striking the enemy. Casting a short range spell is not a melee attack. You have to be close but if you can’t reach the enemy with the tip of your sword while swinging it, that’s mid-range. Some weapons are both: one with say a hilt bash & a thrown attack. One is melee, the other not.

asura warrior’s must be close range but not melee by some people’s definition here. My asuran warrior can auto attack things that the sword doesnt even hit. Personally, I base it on the regular attack range of the mob, if the mob can hit you with a melee attack, its melee, if it can’t its close range→long range.
For me you are in melee range if the enemy is meleeing you. A good example would be say an Ettin with a club or a wolf biting you. If you are there with Daggers as an Ele hitting a wolf and it has to run up to you then no imo you are not in melee range until the wolf reaches you.
I also have an Ele and when I tried the daggers I was a bit disapointed that the skills were still “magical” and were not more “melee” and had to be closer.
Here is a very simple way to put it, if your weapon is not touching the mob, it’s not melee.

For me:
0-200 melee range
201-500 short range
501-900 medium range
901+ long range
Obviously, this is just what I consider the range from my target and I. I am not calling 200 melee, just melee range (even though it is slightly outside of most melee).
