So, aside from LA most areas now days are pretty sparse, I’ve looked into this across servers that are typically considered full and aside for a few souls here and there as well as a bot or 2 it’s uniformly the same.

Aside from your big events that have an end chest its pretty hard to find people to do Dynamic Events with now days.

When coming across a DE I might have a stab at it, but honestly, it’s SOOOO boring if no one has started it and I participate in it hoping that maybe someone else will join. It takes to long and honestly I get more exp from simply running around opening up new areas.

Ive actually taken to WvW for most of my leveling. Find a good commander with a significant following into a Borderland and make some noise.

While you can’t remove servers from WvW given the server pride people have. There is absolutely no problem with mergering PvE servers. Technicalities aside, it makes perfect sense. You repopulate the areas so that impromptu groups can form and suddenly theres an active PvE community again.

tl:dr
Merge PvE servers so there are enough numbers to form impromptu groups for DE.

I’m curious as to people’s opinions on this. Do people care little for PvE nowdays, people mainly seem interested in farming the Dragon events or cursed shore.

I miss the impromptu groups and dare I say it but the world of GW2 is to big with to much content? The whole impromptu group forming was a big sell of GW2 before release and it rarely happens now days imo because its hard to find anyone.

Now that GW2 had it’s initial BANG are we left trying to motivate friends and guildies to do certain events.

LFG…

I regularly “tour” the world, and most times I’ll just pick a zone, and run through for fun, aiding in DE’s wherever I come across them. I think it’s just a lack of reward for doing them. Most rewards for DE’s are tempting to lower level characters and definitely appeal to new players. It is hard, however, to entice higher level players to force themselves to sit through a lengthy event in hopes of getting what most consider “trash loot”. I do my best to get players together in zones though!

I think you’re it’s hard to form groups for most DE, would the server mergers assist with this? Any negatives you can think of?

I say: Hell YES.

The mechanisms exist, it’s just like using the overflow servers, except that “overflow” would be permanent. Not much of a problem mixing players from different servers into a single map. And it’s not like there would be problems with group-making either, just get that dammend “join friends on other servers” working and there shouldn’t be any problem with crossserver groups traveling from area to area together.

Especially during night time most areas are almost empty. Maybe 1-2 bots, and thats all. So joining servers on time of low activity just comes natural.

They could just set the population caps to 0, forcing everyone into overflow. The problem with that is you’ll probably never see the people on your own server, most zones would be zergs and gathering nodes would be exploited – but I think they already partially fixed that.

It would make cross realming dungeons really easy though.

It’s because PvE is mind numbingly easy (sorry for reiterating this if you have already read this), it’s not about the rewards I’ve even gone back to zones that i previously liked in beta to go play DE’s i enjoyed (only a few in the whole game), but like you said PvE is unrewarding for high level players even though it was one of arena nets big selling points “Whole game is end game” -_-.

if they activated guesting for zones (not just dungeons or personal stories)
if they fixed the loot issues
if they balanced the dungeons
if they fixed the problems that make some classes impossible to play
if they’d make the rewards for killing vets champs and finding treasure rares and higher
if they’d make crafting the focus
if they’d make ascended horizontally obtainable
if they’d focus on making new meta events instead of dungeons

they’d restore much of what they damaged over the past two months.

Yeh merge servers. Just make the persistent world instanced and give each instance, including LA and other cities channels so it adjusts to population level.

It’s a game forum. The truth is not to be found here.

PvE servers? checks server list
There are no “PvE servers”. If you haven’t noticed YET, all servers are PvE except when you willingly enter the World vs. World or structure system.

So I really don’t know what you are talking about. Also in Maguuma server I come across a good amount of people in every zone all the time. Yesterday I went to “out of the way ones” like Fields of Ruin, Malchors Leap and that horrible forgotten place Timberline Falls, all three of these had people in them.

but honestly, it’s SOOOO boring if no one has started it and I participate in it hoping that maybe someone else will join. and suddenly theres an active PvE community again.

Do you advertise in map chat that an even is up? I do and people always show up. Sounds like you are not very proactive at this and you are “hoping” for people to show up. Also is nobody has started the event you find it boring? Sorry but I think you are the problem

There’s no such thing as “PVE” servers. All servers are of the same type.

I’m in the middle of leveling up another character and am just not seeing the population problems described in this thread. Maybe that has something to do with the server I’m on or the time of day I play, but merging servers will just make my sessions uncomfortably crowded.

There’s at least a few people at any heart-task region, event, vistas, etc that I visit. I still come across players out in the “wild”, although now and then when I’m out in the space between “camps” I won’t see other players – but that’s fine. Preferred, actually. Always having other characters fighting within spitting distance of me makes me feel like the world is too small.

Even when nobody seems to be around, within seconds of an event starting other players come streaming out of the woodwork. I’m not going to try and suggest the population is the same as it was at launch, but frankly it was way too crowded back then and I’m glad things have thinned out some.

Do you advertise every time, for each DE you come across and patiently wait for people to turn up? Are people patient with you if you’ve advertised an event that rewards them for very little?
Calling me the problem is fine, which also includes a number of people that have commented above. What you should considering is that by stating people are the problem and that they need to be proactive might get you a few supporting comments but ultimately if PvE is unrewarding for people at best will stop doing it and at worse stop playing GW2.
