[Merged] Cultural Human T3 Not Exclusive
Not happy, I like the look as is and considering I also re-skinned weapons to match after buying 3 x sets of the gem store skins (using cash not gold). The people who bough the current skins should be able to keep them as is and just reintroduce the new skins to the store when ready.
I brought from your store in good faith and now your taking what I purchased away, refund or not that is not right and is unlawful.
How is ‘being allowed to keep it or have a refund if you’re not happy’ not fair compensation?
Because he wants to keep the armor as is. I do to. A totally fair and correct result would have been to remove it from the gem store, redesigning it but let those who have bought it keep the existing skin.
No. This whole uproar about the skins is exactly because people were allowed to buy a reskin of a T3 cultural armor on the Gem Store. If those people could keep it simply because they bought it before ANet admitted the mistake and decided to fix, the problem would persist, since people would still have the amor that shouldnt have been sold on the first place.
Can we please get an explanation of how the refund will work? Looking at posts there are people that have put it over existing T3 armors and other expensive items. Are you going to make us delete these? Are we going to have to BUY transmutation splitters so we can split them and get a refund. Just judging by the other 2 flame armors my hopes are not high as to what we will get as a replacement and it is not fair for us to lose the items that we put the skin on.
I would buy it if it was based on the PvP exclusive Masquerade set, but I doubt it will be that set.
I am truly waiting for that (set) … but I’m not sure it will work nicely with flames?
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
Thanks Regina, much appreciated.
Quick Tip… revamp all tier 3 :P i would like that

So why punish the purchasers, who purchased in good faith. When it was not a problem they created?
I’m very disappointed that this is the way that was chosen to handle this situation despite many alternatives that take a little more effort and do not involve taking the new Flamekissed skin away from players who wished to have it, have already purchased it, and are very pleased with it.
You do not seem to realise that any solution HAS TO involve that.
No, any solution does not have to. You apparently didn’t even look into alternatives like mine that I linked that compensates all involved, takes nothing away from anyone, and leaves everyone happy…including Anet with more revenue being directed to the Gem Store.

Most people who would’ve previously had t3 skins will of had transmuted them to an exotic so you won’t get your t3 skins back even if you use a splitter.
Now this i didn’t expect. Nice to see you came to your sense, anet.

I’m being punished by not keeping what I purchased in good faith, I do not want a refund.
If I can make a suggestion to Anet: please use the “Rubric” armor skin as the base for the new light set, seeing as it’s currently unobtainable in PVE. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_Rubric_armor

Well that is garbage. I also just looked at the cost of splitters and they cost more than the 800 gems anyways..
I’ve already gotten this skin because I LOVED the look of it..
What if I HATE the new look of it? Will there be an option for a refund then, cuz it is a lot of gold/gems for something you don’t want and it would make me quite upset to be stuck with something I don’t want to use..

That is literally the ugliest skin I’ve ever seen…. are you serious?…
Sigh I like the look it has. I hope it is something even better looking to reward the people that bought the original set. Time will tell I guess. I’ll log in and see my character looking different. I hope it isn’t some mini skirt junk.
So after everyone complained with every LS release that the skin you get for the achievements was exclusive and not sell-able and people that don’t play will never get it again.
Then people start complaining about this armor set to get anet to agree to remove it?
I do not get anyone here really! I wanted cultural armors to be non-exclusive as much as everyone here wanted the living story skins to be not exlusive.
There is clearly a big disconnect as to what players want and don’t want on here.
Just another reason for not liking the game … and I have very few compared to others here. Also I’m still playing.

We have the option of being refunded. Personally, if I don’t like it I’m asking for my actual money back, not just the gems. I wouldn’t have funded them if the armor hadn’t been there, and if they wouldn’t give me back my actual money then that would be a bait and switch, of sorts. I’m pretty grumpy.

Anyone going to respond to my post? I do provide a compelling point.

No. That is awful. The new skin needs to be something that is of similar utility to the current skin to people who purchased the current skin – i.e. fancy, flames, exposed skin, accepts dyes the same.
This is supposed to be about making it different enough to make the T3 people not feel infringed upon, not screwing the people who bought the current skin by swapping in something completely unsuitable to how they want their character to look.
Shame that the Medium and Heavy skins aren’t being redone as well.
I am sure many, many people would gladly pay to be able to use some of the pvp-only armors in PVE, such as:
Hey, everyone. We’ve been reading all your feedback about the Flamekissed Armor Skin that was released into the Gem Store yesterday.
Although the Flamekissed Armor uses the same mesh as the Tier 3 Human Cultural Armor, it was not our intention to create an armor skin that so closely matched the existing Tier 3 Human Cultural armor set. The intention was to use the mesh as a basis for creating an armor set that stands apart and is distinct in appearance. However, after reading your feedback, we agree that the Flamekissed armor is not visually distinct enough from Human Cultural Tier 3 armor. We will do a few things to address this issue.
- We will temporarily remove Flamekissed Armor Skin from the Gem Store.
- Players who have purchased Flamekissed Armor Skin will keep the skin.
- We will make new art for the Flamekissed Armor Skin that achieves our goal of making a visually distinct and attractive armor set and does not closely resemble the Human Tier 3 Cultural armor.
- Once this new artwork is completed, we will then update the Flamekissed Armor Skin so that all existing sets that players have purchased get the new art. We will also offer the Flamekissed Armor Skin for sale again at that time.
- When we update the Flamekissed Armor Skins with the new artwork, any player that has already purchased the set and who does not like the new, updated look, can get a full refund by contacting Customer Support.
Note that there is no ETA on when this change will happen. We need to work with the Character Art Team to determine when we can have a new armor skin ready, and this could take some time.
Thank you everyone for providing your feedback. We appreciate that you took the time to let us know how you feel about the new armor set.
If I gifted this armor to my friend, and it turns out they don’t like it, do I get a refund of my gems?
Shame that the Medium and Heavy skins aren’t being redone as well.

While its a set I like, I’m pretty sure that its the complete opposites of the style that people who bought the new flame-kissed armor were looking for.
I think the best any of us can hope for is that they use the polygons people have already paid for, and do a (million times) better job of creating a new texture that lays over it.
Then we can address the tiny nagging detail that the amount of work that when into medium and heavy armors is similarly trivial and slipshod. But I’m guessing their sales numbers will tell them that far more eloquently than our posts.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

Actually bait and switch is a good term for it, you buy something in good faith based on what you see and then it gets changed after you paid the purchased price.
I rather have all cultural armor abolished and no exclusive gear ever! There can be rare and unique skins… but never exclusive! Everything should be allowed to be gotten by anyone.
This is why I was for the T3 skin lookalike being sold. The other two look like parts I can put together from other armor already existing.

How about this ? Its same story, only for PvP for now. It´s not best i guess but not bad.

Im assuming they are going to provide a rollback for the previous armor pieces and even refund players real money (for those who spent real money on it), which would be the right thing to do. Maybe you could provide me a link that states otherwise.
Meh… I wished it was the beginning of a series of cultural-like armor sets for all races and instead it gets changed…
If you must, then I suggest to use this as base skin for the next: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stately_armor
Just to be on par with medium and heavy skins.

That’s exactly what I thought when I logged on and saw Flamekissed was available for roughly half the price (if you convert gold to gems) that I had paid for my T3.
It will be crap just to keep the T3 owners happy.

Not so, seeing as what you purchased is not getting changed.
What you are stating is like something going on sale that you had purchased for a higher price.
A step in the right direction,Thank you for listening to the player’s feedback and coming up with a good solution for the skins.

Yep, and the price for the T3 wasn’t changing and I wasn’t getting reimbursed for it either. I won’t even go into the exclusivity loss when some other racial cultural armors I might like stayed exclusive. But now the people who don’t like the new look will be reimbursed, which is a lot nicer for all involved.

They haven’t said they would go into depth on the refund – the reply just said that they would get a refund. They still need to get people that purchased other things to match the new armor taken care of. If it doesn’t match the same weapons, doesn’t handle dyes the same way, doesn’t fit hair colors, skin colors, glows, etc. some people are out significant money and even if they keep the new skin, they should be compensated with whatever it takes to make their character complete again.
I have a feeling it will be that Winged set, the crafting one.
What a train wreck. Sigh… I bought the new light set and love it. Now I’m going to login at some point and see it look different. If I don’t like it then I have to jump through hoops to get a gem refund and they will also have to figure out how to split it from the armor I used it on. They should seriously just let those that bought it and used it keep the look and put the new look back on the gem store.

Admittedly it’s speculation but I don’t imagine Anet stores data on what items have been previously part of a transmuted item. The only scenario I see rollbacks happening is if you can provide proof, like a screenshot, that you previously had those skins.
It wont be a new skin, it will be a old skin just like the medium and heavy, they will probably pick one of the crafting skins and add the flame effects, perfectly acceptable i think.
I really don’t get why people are calling the light one the ~worst decision ever~, when the medium and heavy armors still sit there? Awful sets I rarely see people use in the first place and people whine when the good one finally opens up to more users. And “just adding flames” is hardly a good descriptor, the added effect and glow patterns are beautifully placed I can’t imagine it wasn’t done with a lot of thought from whomever is responsible for the sylvari design language. Passing it off as an accident isn’t going to cut it, but I’d like to say whoever did this reskin did it very well.
I actually decided to dump money into the gemstore just for this and REALLY hope that whatever redesign comes along isn’t just a downgrade to invader’s armor, especially if the refund is only in gems. It’s wholly unfair that the other two sets are left as is for how ugly and cheap they were in comparison.
Heck, the outburst over the light set probably wouldn’t have been as explosive if the other two skins were from sets of any value. We got 120 gold, a pocket full of karma in WvW and the pit fighter set. That balance is ridiculous, adding to the fact that the gems to buy the light cost ~half as much in gold as the real set and feels incredibly unfair to people who spent their time saving up to buy the real T3.
I’m conflicted because I love the style and would like a way to keep it for my Sylvari, but I know it was given under extremely cheap/unfair circumstances. I hope the new skin(s) do justice to the price tag, else I suppose I’ll have to go back to envying Councillor Flax and risen trash mobs
(edited by dai.4170)
They should have made all faction armor unlockable for all races by doing faction-specific DEs a long time ago. It’d give us more reasons to go back & do DEs in zones people stay away from & would be a great gold/karma sing. But for some confounding reason Anet can only focus on adding more Scarlet.

Train wreck is right. This is going to be a major hassle no matter what (I honestly have little faith in me liking the new set.) Now there will be unhappy people with just about whatever they do.

Agree, it is a complete joke just to appease a few (and I even re-skinned a T3 on one character), also noticed that in the store under recent purchases there is now a blank slot.
