Or rather when will anet understand, that playerbase is the reason they have a job and earn money, and that playerbase will not put up with their crap forever.

I called this failure from the start. The second another mmorpg comes out that is slightly interesting, the playerbase will flock there. Hopefully the company that produces the MMO does not continuously throw recycled armor skins at their playerbase.

Well, I can understand they need money… Putting exclusive new skins for gems was already sad enough, but I could understand.

Now taking some of the unique sets “ingame” and selling them for real money was a decision that has to be intentional. Can’t imagine they did not think people would not notice

My game just ended updating right now and I don’t feel like launching it. I guess tomorrow I will until I find something else. Will haunt the forums for some more and then go to sleep. I need some time to get used to the idea of logging in and see all those people running around with the skin that I worked hard in obtaining and with added cool particle effects on top.

I’m actually very much in favor of cultural armor being able to be worn cross-race (more options are a good thing, in my opinion), but I’m very disappointed with these skins. Putting an arguably enhanced version of a prestige skin in the gem store is exactly the sort of thing I hoped we’d never see. The fact that they’re reskins at all is disappointing as well. Finally, we have a lot of sets with an orange fire theme now, and plenty of weapons to match. Flame Legion, Dredge, and Hellfire all have this theme; it’s difficult to find armor with particle effects that aren’t orange flames.

I don’t post a lot, which I guess typically makes me part of the “non-posting majority,” but this patch has made me feel like adding my voice to make it that much harder to brush off negative feedback as the work of a “vocal minority.” This was a bad decision. I don’t own any human T3 cultural armor myself, but I feel for those who do. If people feel like their effort in the endgame of cosmetic progression is at risk of being undermined, they won’t bother putting in that effort in the first place. Needless to say, that will not do good things for player numbers.

Thanks for that unwarranted insult. I’m not petty in the least toward people who choose to wear the new armor. I’m just warning him that he might get some hate for purchasing the armor skin that people spent hundreds of gold for.

Why would anyone be petty over an armor skin that could have since forever, been bought with gems? Oh no he bought armor for less? Do these same people scowl at anyone who buys anything else on sale in the gemstore too?

We have not received new full armor sets. As for new armor, we’ve gotten the molten gauntlets, radiant and hellfire helm, gauntlets and shoulders, watchworks shoulder, halloween shoulders, 3 zephirite helms, gas mask and filter, along with a few back items, and I’m sure I’m forgetting some.

Who cares… the armor looks absolutely horrible. All 3 of them.

I wouldn’t wear something that looks like the result of a couple of hours of work of an amateur modder, I don’t understand why somebody would get angry if a norn wants to make a fool of himself looking like he came from the most pathetic of Skyrim mods.

Meh, i dont really feel bad about it.. i have two characters one in full char heavy t3 and the other in partial pieces, i want charr heavy T3 for a non charr as well because im curious as to what it would look like so i cant say im very angry about this.

and before any one says anything i farmed in game for my T3 not by buying gems.

People who have tier 3 cultural armor have reason to complain. Not to mention, where is the Sylvari cultural armor for everyone? Where’s the Asura cultural armor for everyone? What about the Charr cultural armor?

Look up a few posts from yours. Armor pieces have been added to the game without the gemstore and they were listed in this thread before you posted.

I do not care for the idea of adding cultural armor to the gemstore but I am not sure that any armor set that could be purchased with real world money since its introduction qualifies as “prestigious.”

This argument belongs in a different thread, but just off the top of my head Settlers armor was added to the game, after release; Apothecary, Givers, Celestial, etc. If you meant cosmetic, lots of bits and pieces (skins) have been added. Quivers have been added.

I’m not bothered too much by the fact that now anyone female norn and sylvari can wear human T3, I’m not a fan of limiting armor. What bothers me is that medium and heavy didn’t get so lucky.
And guys, don’t expect to see Charr and Asura cultural armor get the same treatment because it will force them to create female model for those armors.

I’ve spent my last dollar on GW2. This is a slap in the face to everyone who rolled human, gave up actual good elites and spent twice as much money to buy T3 human cultural.

My only consolation is that armors with particle effects often bug out my mesmer fantasms and make them look like piles of blocks I can’t wear the radiant gauntlets because of that.

Yep, it’s only fair. I want my human ele to be able to wear Sylvari T3 for the druid look.

Singling out humans like this is adding insult to injury (doing away with cultural armor’s exclusivity.)

Well you know nothing then because several armor pieces have been added, free of charge. I won’t even count the Backpieces which have become rather innumerable, but they have added several shoulder skins, helmets, and gloves. There will soon be the ascended skin set for full armor. Weapon skins have been added by the truck loads in all forms.

Next up: Legendary weapon skins on the Gem Store for 2000 gems each. You know it’ll happen. And I’ll be waiting with my $25. Thank you for my Twilight, I’m so glad I didn’t waste all that time farming those mats/money when they were obviously just going to offer it for real money sometime.

These armors are lazy & mean rolling a light armored human is entirely pointless now; because you’ll spend less buying the gem armor that is no longer exclusive to humans- and that’s not even the sad part. The sad part is how pathetic the heavy & medium armors are. Atleast we know Anet hasn’t really been listening about armor skin suggesitons. Unless I can be proven wrong because I doubt any medium class wanted another unflattering coat that is the same skin as Orrian I believe just glowy stuff. Whoopdie-Doo.

The cultural armor keeps flowing no matter what. They are not ramping down. They’re just getting started. Nothing stops this train. Nothing.

I guess it means they will make all other culturals accessible to everyone (and cheaper) soon. I can’t wait.

I understand that people are frustrated that they wasted money getting the same product for more gold. I also understand the frustration that endgame rewards are tied to money. Both of these complaints are valid and I don’t have anything to add.

However, I like the precedent for weakening race boundaries. All races should be able to buy all cultural armor. This creates more cosmetic opportunities and encourages gold sinks. This also sets the stage for gemstore race-changes, which players have been asking for since release and would provide more profits. If these armor-skins lead to these changes the game will be better for it.

Actually it is the medium WvW set, an ugly one to be sure.

I also find it amusing that one of the permier PvP armors requiring high rank to access is now easily obtainable from the gem store.

The norn elite has two movement abilities on 10 second cooldowns with 600 and 1600 range, and it gives stealth for 5 seconds on a 10 second cooldown.

I will just console myself with the objective fact that the gem store version is 10x the ugly for half the price. Have at it, bad aesthetes.
