Merging of Guild Rank powers causing issues

So, I noticed today that the “invite new members” power and the “admin lower ranks” power have been merged. This has caused problems for my guild, because previously we had a system whereby older, non-officer members could recruit freely to the guild, while not being officers.

For obvious reasons I don’t want to give this “Trusted Member” rank the ability to promote, demote and kick other, lower ranked members, but I would still like them to be able to recruit. Is there a reason for the merging of these powers, and would it be possible to revert this? I appreciate that it is a small issue compared to many other fixes and changes that need development resources, but I would at least appreciate an explanation so I know what happened.

Thanks.

Here’s my solution to this problem: In the ranks section I have the “New Members Here” Rank (technically the lowest rank in most guilds) above the general members section. the new members just make sure that’s the only permission they have or however you run this, and then you have the otherwise “trusted members” Sill have power to invite people, but they can’t kick anyone since technically by the ranking system they are the lowest rank.

Below I added some pictures to illustrate what I mean. This is my “Bank” guild so there are no members my friends and I. It is an old RP guild I used to run before I merged us with another guild. That aside Scouts/Adventurer’s was the rank for “trusted full members” of the guild. Prospects was the rank where new players went. Notice how Scouts is below Prospects in the list, but they have way more permissions. This allowed people in the Scouts to recruit but no more administration than that. As obviously Scouts were the people that went out and recruited for us but were still technically Advenurer’s. I hope this makes sense and it helps you out =D

As far as I know they have always been one and the same. Though it would be nice to have them separate for security type reasons. In our guild “general members” are only above members that are non-rep, inactive, or temp users. We generally invite to our general rank except on mission days when we invite to our temp (which is the lowest).

Ideally there would be some additional power permissions: Kick lower rank, change lower rank, change to/from current rank, invite to guild.

Most of these are self explanatory, however I suggest a “change to/from current rank” so you could prevent certain ranks from elevating users below them to their own rank. For example if you only want the Guild Leader to select officers, an officer wouldn’t be able to promote anyone else to that rank.

They have always been the same. Many people have requested they be separated in the past but Anet has turned a deaf ear to those requests. Would be nice and frankly thought it would have come with the guild overhaul in HoT.

It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.
