Trying to look for a group (Not even spamming) what do I get?
“Your message was supressed due to excesive messaging”
And it takes ages to go away!

Have fun looking for a group with this supressing! It’s horrible!!
Please do something about this ASAP!

Don’t post the same message over and over and over again.
That will be seen as spam by the system and they will stop coming messages.

Change the area should fix it.

I refuse to! Anet should fix this!
i’m just typing “lfg fractals lvl 3” or “lfg fotm lvl 3” both get suppressed!
I don’t want a solution, I want a fix!

Why fix something that might not be broken?

Sure, it is quite annoying to be effected by the system, but I would rather have that then seeing constant spamming about gold-selling and such.

Side note, vary your LFG a bit more, normally works for me, can actually be more fun trying to think of more interesting ways to advertise your group. I know we shouldn’t have to beat the system, but I’d rather this than gold spam.

Because it’s annoying as hell to find a group!
I just typed “lfg fractal lvl 3” maybe 3 times with 2min in between them…
Message got supressed (over 50minutes atm!)

I know they did this to counter the gold sellers; but we the players shouldn’t be the victim of this!

I have been caught by it already, but as I said I would rather be caught in this a few time than having chat full of gold selling-spam.

I had some issues with my chat box, could not whisper people and got error messages about the login server.

I wasn’t being suppressed, it was just something strange with chat, the game was running fine.

Seriously, are you even playing the same game ?

I linked a waypoint in map chat for an event, then said SE of waypoint, someone asked what SE was…i tried to respond found found myself chat banned……meanwhile yesterday in Lions Arch the same gold spammer somehow manged to spam his advert for gold sales every few seconds for at least the 30 or 40 minutes that i was there, multiple people said they had reported a while ago, i reported him myself…he continued.

Message suppressing is the most backward, last decade nonsense i have ever seen, i really am astounded by Anet who profess to have created an innovative game, yet have mechanics that every other MMO gave up years ago….it would be hilarious if it wasnt so pathetic.

I for one prefer this “old” method.

I understand they did this because of the gold seller spam.

However, it’s also suppressing Commanders in WvW and making it difficult for them to keep everyone organized.

I dont know what MMO’s you’re playing ,but the 5 or 6 that i play regularly have a report button and they are banned almost immediately……even FTP games like LOTRO and DDO dont have gold spammers any more.

I have yet to see a single commander get effected by this in WvW, and I have spent most of my time there.

Unless they keep going: “Run there!”, “Run there!”, “Run there!” all the time it should not effect them at all.

From issues I’ve had with it, it picks up on anything you repeat.

LFG/LFM should literally only be used once. Even changing LF1M LF2M LF3M etc. will likely land you with suppression.

The only real way around it is to be more adventurous with your messages:

Looking for two more FoTM
LF2M Fractals of the Mist
Can we get two more members for Fractals
Couple of people for the new dungeon?

Should manage to avoid it. Just. As long as you don’t post them too quickly of course.

I’m getting suppressed even if I type different messages every time.

It is as if there is some limit to how many messages I can type in the map chat per hour or smth.

Idea for cash shop: item that removes that restriction so you can spam all you want.

Goldsellers will buy them with the same fraudulent credit card data they used to buy their accounts in the first place (with the exception of the accounts they steal from people dumb enough to hand their passwords over for Power Leveling).
