Message of the day
Our guild had like 3 motd since the 3 day headstart. Two of them was about “represent the guild with your characters, ts info: <xxx>” the last was just gloating that a few of us did good in a dungeon.
So personally I don’t see a need for an update on motd mechanics.
Yeah I see but I think the mechanics can be approved so members will more often check the message or the guild tab. I got the feeling that somehow even if the message is a thank you a few will actually read it?
Well it really depends on how the guild operates. We are a smaller group of friends and our comm needs are fulfilled by TS.
But I can see why would a larger guild or one with more sophisticated player composition would like to have this improvement. Also if you check the suggestions sub-forum you can find multiple threads about guilds requesting this or something similar.
yes i see, but indeed my guild is a lager guild and the members in the guild are from whole europe. Then it’s better to have only one message that will be showed to all the members.
But do you think it will be an option for Arenanet to take a look at this?
I do. Guild management seems a bit lacking in some aspects. If they ever get to fixing little flaws like this, I think they’ll change the motd system to be a little more visible.

I was wondering if it’s a nice idea to have the message of the day pop up in the chat every time you log in or something?
Because I feel kind of useless to put a message of the day because I don’t know if people will read it and with this idea everyone gets the message.
What are you thinking about this idea?
If it is like WoW where it is just there and spammed out when people talk then I don’t see why not. If it becomes like a popup like when you log into vent then HECK NO! I hate that.

Yeah that thing like WoW has! Then everyone can see the message in the chat and then the point of message of the day isn’t pointless
You see the MotD every time you log in with a character in GW1. I never understood why it wasn’t so in GW2. I really miss that message, as it was an awesome tool to point people to certain threads in our guild forum. Now, people don’t see it unless they happen to use the guild screen…

yea exactly what I mean. Only people who actually use the guild screen and then the question is would they read it? So with this option for returning it makes the MotD not useless
Also edit is not a real edit. Seriously its called “edit” not “rewrite”

Give everyone the ability to write one then you can use it like a shoutbox. You can read all the past messages in history.

That’s also a nice idea! But then again they need to have the ability that people will get the message or the last message appear in the chatbox or something that people will check it.
make it so that the edit button actually edits the previous text.
