It’s safe to say that it is a walk in the park at the moment.

I know, i know… it isn’t supposed to be super hard either, and behemoth & friends shouldn’t be wipefests. But should you be able to go afk and auto-attack the boss until it eventually goes down?

Right now, they’re practically “rare piñatas”.
People check their timer. “Oh, Shatterer i 5 minutes!”. He arrives, and they stand in the same position auto-attacking for a few mins, get their reward, and moves on.

In my opinion. Meta-bosses in every zone should have their difficulity upped to a state where they’re not “piñatas” anymore. Their abilites should be able to kill us if we’re not paying attention. The fights should require some sort of “skill”. We should feel satisfied after downing a meta-boss. Not just for the loot, but for the challenge.

After all… they are a part of the “end-game”…

What do you think?

In one of the betas, one of the “End of” events was where there was a dragon flying over Plains of Ashford, setting off mini, related events and turning players into branded IIRC. It would fly all over the map setting off these events, including battles against champion branded siege devourers and the like. To be honest, that’s what I thought dragon events in the finished game were going to be.
But yeah, having a whole map dedicated to a fight against a dragon would be very cool. However, it would be a fine line between each stage just consisting of a mass of HP and interesting, challenging gameplay.

I think the issue right now is that they nerfed the rewards so much, it wouldn’t make since to make it even tougher.

I completely support adding a mechanic or making the fight a little tougher (NOT more HP) but they would have to increase the rewards slightly to keep people engaged.

RIP in peace Robert

I’m curious in regards to the shatterer….are you playing a full geared out level 80 or are you playing on its level without the max gear?
Also, how many players are participating?

A poor level 50 character that’s meandering around the area with a a friend or two may not find the shatterer so “easy” to defeat.

Lets be honest here. With the timers and all..

Are there ever people with the intended level only at the scene when bosses are up?
No. It’s packed with people wanting to farm, lots of 80s.

Maybe the meta-event should scale as well?

I’m talking about all the meta-events here. Not one.

We can say from the Grenth buff a while ago, their balance is a very hard thing to do. Overshoot and the difficulty becomes too great and unskilled, uncoordinated players can’t manage it even with big numbers, undershoot and the difficultly becomes a walk in the park. While I’m not against balancing it as best as possible, I’d rather see balancing that undershoots the difficulty rather than overshoots it.

The meta events in this game are terribly boring. I am pretty sure you can solo every dragon meta event if you bring enough time and money for waypoint costs.

The only “hard” part, at least on Claw of Jormag and Tequatl, is the fear breath they use, that makes your character run away. Otherwise just starting an auto and going afk is enough to get the rewards. Oh and for Jormag you have to change position for the second phase, how awkard making the dragon actually move, they don’t care for afkers
I just want loot while I’m afk!

In all seriousness now. Adding some NPCs that actually need to be defended is one excellent way of upping the difficulty and “spliting” the huge zerg of players. For example, in the Claw of Jormag battle some more Crystals (the big ones that appear in the pre-event) could appear and spawn mobs that attack the base camp (with the anti-air guns) and players will have to split forces, take down the crystals, kill the mobs while also doing what they already do at Jormag.

Splitting the zerg is key in making a worthwhile encounter with many people. In the best instanced raid encounters you don’t just see 23 players attacking a huge amount of hp for a time and then go for loot, there are phases and specific sub-tasks to do. In GW2 meta-events there are no sub-tasks just a huge number of players zerging a poor boss.
