It’s exciting to see armor skins from GW1 come back, but I really do agree with your take on this. I really loved the Primeval, Krytan, and Profane armors they offered very early on… the fact that they were actual armor skins made them very exciting for mixing&matching armor skins for a unique look!

I believe somewhere there is an official post that armor skins will be acquired solely in game now while the gemstore will continue to offer outfits. I really hope they change their minds and decide to offer GW1 armor skins as actual ARMOR in the gemstore instead of outfits, because I have a feeling there won’t be much opportunity to introduce GW1 skins through in-game acquisition due to everything tying in to living world and current content.

I think we’ve had 3 outfits and no armor pieces since they announced this. I’m not sure if you compare 1 outfit to 6 gear pieces or a single cross-weight helm but at this point I’d take a gem store sandles over another outfit.

I think we’ve had 3 outfits and no armor pieces since they announced this. I’m not sure if you compare 1 outfit to 6 gear pieces or a single cross-weight helm but at this point I’d take a gem store sandles over another outfit.

I dare say it’s safe to presume they are heavily making armors for the expansion currently, and outfits mean a third of the production to drop in while they work on the good HoT stuff. But That_Shaman rendered some BEAUTIFUL upcoming armors. I can drop some youtube links here so you all have something to look forward to.

And as far as the Monk’s outfit goes: I’m sad it has so much clipping on female characters. If that goes away I’ll consider getting it.

I do not care for the outfits, the idea was seemingly nice but is fast becoming stale and dry.

We have outfits for the lazy … The fact all thse outfits are just “polished gw1 skins now” doesn’t make it better…

Super annoying clip(?) on my Asuran. It literally looks like a giant black pixel on her head and sticks out like a sore thumb…

It comes out when she draws her weapons for combat and goes away when OOC, and yes when I disable the outfit, it goes away

Woulda bought it if it was armor, but it’s an outfit, so I’ll pass. =\

Those are gorgeous! Medium armor without coat and wow, that light armor!

I really wish we could have more pants for light female. And, by pant, I mean pants only and no dresses or puffy parts attached. More like the Ascalonian Light pants for guys.

Daydreamer’s Finery and the Mad Scientist’s outfit are GW1 skins? Don’t blow things out of proportion. Not that there’s anything wrong with making references to or using GW1 armor skins (in fact I enjoy it).

Considering that guardians would probably be wearing this most of the time, and that this would be classified as “light armor”, why would this make sense as an armor skin?

The nice thing with outfits it they are unlimited uses. You can apply it right at level one and keep the same look all the way to 80. If it was armor it would cost like 90 charges.

My asuran has the same pixelated head. Also the head piece is either a murky gray or black color no matter what color I dye the armor.
The headpiece is dyeable on the other races but Asuran.

Also that skirt clipping is a bit annoying too.

All that being said, I do love the throwback to the GW1 monk!
