Dear Abby,

I want to craft Mjolnir (Exotic Hammer), but it takes 350 Charged Lodestones! I farmed this week. Everyday after work for about 3 hours. I have 6 lodestones. So…

3(Hours) x 4 (Days) = 12 (Hours spent farming)
12 (Hours spent farming) ÷ 6 (Lodestones that dropped) = 2 (Hours per 1 lodestone)
350 (Lodestones needed) x 2 (Hours per 1 lodestone) = 700 (Hours of farming total)

It’s not even a legendary weapon. I also realize that I’ll make gold while farming. Somewhere around 1 (or so) gold and hour. If I figure on spending all the money I make while farming on lodestones sold on the trading post for 3g each (Lower than the average) it works out to something, still equally stupid, like 466 hours of farming. Mjolnir is cool and all but 466 hours is almost 20 days of nothing but farming lodestones (Non-stop playing) and gold. For a non-legendary weapon.

Sincerely Yours,
-Sad Panda

P.S.- I know people usually ask you for advice but I’m just venting and bored.

You shouldn’t farm, that’s one of the worst ways to get lodestones. You should do CoE to get Charged lodestones (low chance) but more importantly, to get Charged cores. Use the MF to convert the cores into lodestones. I don’t know the exact ingredients but you can find them online easily.

Running dungeons will also net you extra gold on the side (about 1-2g per run with Omnomberry bars) to buy lodestones of the TP.

You can also get Orrian Jewlery Boxes from the Karma vendors in Orr. Those boxes can drop lodestones of all varieties.

That’s only 1100 gold worth of lodestones, i’m not sure what you’re complaining about.

*edit

Or $1000 worth of gems. Really now, who doesn’t have a grand laying around?

BG Mrplow – Highly rated since 1987.

Well… at least you don’t need to buy a precursor too?

Always best to look on the bright side.

The sad truth is, Mjolnir is STILL more expensive than some legendaries, precursor included.

Those armadillos would be a lot cooler if they looked more like real armadillos. mmm armadillos

Honestly If we were able to buy them with karma or the WvW tokens I’d be happy. I’m in WvW a lot so it’d make killing other people doubly worth while! I kind of wish they’d do that with a lot of things. It’s no fun when you have to stop doing your favorite part of the game (WvW for me) to go do tedious, boring farming or dungeon running. WvW is all I do for the most part. There should be some kind of reward for that, apart from spending tokens on boring looking armor and weapons that look like they’ve been garbage picked.

Not mocking devs for that choice. Savage looking weapons. I get it. But when you see the armor people are wearing from running dungeons its kind of a “Wtf” moment.

Edit: Karma armor. It all looks the same. Whyyyyy?

Personally I hate farming. I prefer to find ways to make money and buy the stuff I need off the TP whenever it becomes cheap.

For example, CoF runs are fast, and running paths 1 and 2 gives you enough tokens to get 4 rares. Salvage them, sell the ectos, rinse and repeat (but not so much as to get hit hard by DR).
