Mini Llama Discussions
I would love to have a mini llama because I also love llamas. However, I think it should remain a spvp exclusive item.
I wouldnt mind it being included in a long and difficult pvp reward track, or as a meta reward for completing many smaller reward tracks. But I dont think it should be a gem store item or available just from PvE.
The base llama is in fact adorable. I’m not so fond of slapping human clothes on animals, so the extended version is less adorable to me. However, I don’t sPvP. The Stronghold Beta, which I played once, was my very first sPvP match ever. Nor have I done WvW for quite a long time. So, no mini llama for me, oh well. (Nor Glorious Armor, parts of which are cool).
The thing is, though, they have to make the prizes for successful competitors stand out in some way. The prize must be desirable, even to those who don’t have a great chance at getting it. If the prize is horrible, where’s the pride in earning it? And once it’s set up as a prize for demonstrating ability in one area of the game, it eviscerates it to make it more easily available elsewhere.
I’m far from a proponent of “exclusive” digital items. I’m not envious of those who have them, I don’t stare at them in awe, nor do I feel my own bling is diminished if someone else has it as well. But I do believe that some things should be rewarded only for demonstrated skill. Whether a mini of any sort should have been such a thing, given the collector mania minis engender, well, that’s a different question. This particular prize has been established and won and should not be undone for those who competed.
I feel like they could add it as a reward in WvW for 1st place servers in their tier during the tournaments, but only to people that actually helped their server win. At least then the llama would be exclusive to PvP game modes.
WvW already has its own exclusive sets of weapons and its own exclusive mini. There’s no reason to try to have the llama as yet another wvw special item, I feel.
Zilent doesn’t do tournaments and is nonexistent on the competitive scene.
Spamming games for llamas = 1 every 3ish months if you spam ~200games per season.
If you want llamas then compete in the weekly tournaments, there are some for people of all skill levels.

Good luck!
I’m a quite mediocre PvPer and I joined the AspectGG Pug Quest last Saturday for my chance at getting a mini Llama. My team made it to the second round and we qualified to get a mini Llama (I hope I get him soon). The people running the AspectGG Pug Quest were awesome and super nice. And the people that I got put on a team with were also really nice (and helped me get my build a little better too). Yeah we got stomped down in the second round, but the team that beat us went on to place second. I don’t feel bad about losing to them.
In short, you want a Llama…earn one like I did. Try the AspectGG Pug Quest or the one that happens on Monday evenings. You don’t have to place high, just have to win a single round.
Also, if you want to unlock every version of the mini Llama you will need 40 of them. You need 27 if you want the Lavish one only. (if the math in the pvp forum is correct)

It seems like having them tradeable would be a nice thing. Everyone only needs one of each mini, so extras could be sold on the TP.
I like the fact that there is an item that not everyone can have. Even though I don’t have a llama I still think they should keep it the same. It will help separate the elite pvp players and the normal pvp players
In case people are not aware, if you are on a European server you can attend community events hosted by the Aurora Glade community, to win mini Llama’s too. We host several events each year. Me, Daniel Frozenwind, Angry Bearded Hobo, Eexa, Hennu and many others, give out mini Llama’s during almost each event.
These events are always announced on these forums, and can be viewed on the AG calender, here: http://www.auroragla.de/
So if you’ve missed out, and/or are not active in pvp, this is also an opportunity to get one. Currently we’re exploring ways to also make our events accessible for American players, but I can’t make any promises about this yet.
Events that handed out the Mini LLama:
King and Queen’s Horrorween 2014
Winter Blunderland 2014
Angry Bearded Hobo’s Valentine Adventure 2015
Eexa’s Eeaster 2015
