Mini-game rotation.
And.. like I thought. Not only did the population of each game have no notable increase as there were times where I was alone for at least 2 minutes, if not longer, but people are still leaving the Arena to achievey farm, and people are still lobbing non-stop.
Not only that, people told me to leave the game because I already had my achievement points and title and that I was trolling them via preventing them from getting theirs by playing the game at all…
Real top notch update.
So I played Keg Brawl last night and it was great. I mean we had a really tough, well fought game. That hadn’t happened to me for a long time when the Arena was live.
Anyone else try it for the daily?
I think Vayne has me on block. Can you even do that on the forums?
My experience with Keg Brawl summed up in the conversation below. If you experienced a fun game with no lobbing, farming, exploiting, excessive AFK’ers, or being alone for 5 minutes + until their instancing system threw 5 people into the game at once, then you have to be in the minority. I played some 8 hours total on the day it was active, and there’s no coherent difference between experiences before or after, except they made some weird balance change to Head Crack and now there’s a ton of people who AFK.
What do you mean by “lobbing”? Is that when you get one guy who picks up kegs and lobs them back towards his goalkeeper, where a second player is waiting to just pick up kegs and hand them in? If so, I thought that was a legitimate strategy. (You counter it by either denying the lobber the kegs in the middle, or have one guy be intercepter at the enemy’s goalposts.)
Hardly. I and many others I know can score 99.99999% of the time from the middle of the arena. And there’s almost nothing anyone can do to stop us.
^Does this sound like fun to you? Because it’s not for us. Which is why we choose not to do it. It’s a broken mechanic. It makes 8/10ths of the skills in the game useless because once they ice, they get a free lob, and with 10 minutes of practice, that’s a free point. The skill cap on that is so low that anyone can become an expert lobber if they get a game to themselves for more than 2 minutes.
From the point of them picking up the keg to the point of them lobbing, for most people, you only have 2 seconds or less to close the distance between you and the lobber, otherwise that’s a point or they become heavily advantaged as the keg’s likely only a couple meters from their guy.
Why this makes games stupid and boring is because all it ever becomes is people standing at literal ends of the game just lobbing back and forth. It’s just not fun, and most certainly not nearly as skill reliant or team heavy as using charge-passes and timed dodges, as well as player guarding/clearing to drive the keg down the arena and score.
One of these ways to play uses all 10 skills developed for the game. One of these uses 2/10…
Which one better resembles a Keg Brawl?

Nope, you’re not blocked. I somehow missed your post though. I didn’t do it for long, so I guess I just got lucky.
This news just hit me as I felt like playing some Keg Brawl, a uniquely fun game, only to realize I could only play Southsun Bore-fest. I can’t believe A-net thought this rotation was a good idea. Frankly, not many of their latest implementations have been any good, time-gating content is definitely not a good direction. What ever happened to playing the game our way? You know, fun? We don’t need more achievements, and honestly, I’d hold off on throwing in a slew of new mini-games until the ones that exist are actually balanced. By the way, whatever happened to Polymock Arena, the Bar Brawl, and the shooting gallery in Divinity’s Reach? I hope you’re picking up the bad vibes Anet, things are not going well here.
Btw, it’s once every 7 days now, not the previous 1/4th.

Likely never going to see those again. Check my sig for more details on those. :P
