Has it REALLY stopped dropping for good? I keep hearing it stopped being a thing since the first Karka Queen event, but I never see the ones in the trading post disappear for good and they keep going from 2 to 3 in stock

They only ever dropped from Consortium Chests or (in the case of the Mini Karka) from random mobs in Southsun during one particular event. The supply replenishing is probably people who hoarded them (or the chests) putting up one or two as the supply drops down.

They’ve never been anything to do with the karka queen.

They dropped from enemies in Southsun during the Lost Shores event (the one back in November 2012) and from consortium chests, which were also only available during that event.

They really ought to add those minis into the karka queen’s loot table or something.

They really should.

Considering it was a random drop to begin with and has always been tradable there’s no risk of harming someone’s imagined prestige by making it available again, and as long as it was relatively rare it wouldn’t cause a sudden change in price (although until minis were added to the wardrobe it was always around 200g so a drop in price wouldn’t hurt). And it would allow a lot more people who want one to get one.

(In case anyone’s wondering I have no ulterior motive here, I’ve had mine since the Lost Shores weekend and since the wardrobe update I couldn’t sell it even if I wanted to, so it doesn’t directly affect me either way.)

Seriously. What’s the point of making it a temporary thing considering the Karka and nearly all the events tied to them have stuck unlike, say, pretty much anything to do with Scarlet?

I am pretty sure i got a drop after the event was over, while farming southsun mobs, so i would say they still drop, even though at a very small rate.

No they should not. It would be worth less than 10g instead of 2000g like mini tequatl. I like rare and prestigious minis just like we had in GW1.

Here’s a compromise: make a new karka mini that depicts a Young Karka, and add THAT to KQ’s loot table.

It’s kind of weird anyway that there are minis of karka hatchlings and veterans, but not the most commonly encountered kind.

For mini collectors that’s not a compromise, that just means they’ve got another mini to get (not a bad thing, but not a solution to this issue).

I was in a karka hunting party a few weeks ago and some person pinged the mini karka hatchlings he got dropped as loot just then. possibly could have been bs’ing but i dont know why they’d bother lying about it. I figure if hatchlings can be dropped as loot there, the karka queen probably can too, just insaaaanely rare.

I am doubtful the minis are still dropping. I am doing Karka Queen almost every day and never saw a confirmed drop from Karka Queen or the normal karkas people kill during the events to spawn her.
I saw people post them, but it always turned out that they used a chat code or already had one in inventory.

As someone that just dropped 390g on Southsun Kasmeer. I wouldn’t be mad if they brought all of those back as KQ drops.

Oh it’s that karka mini thing again…

Having something really rare is what the game is about. If you want it so bad, save up.

No gold? Invest in the new dye set and wait for it to appreciate like the electro ones, then sell them and get the karka you always wanted.

They don’t drop anymore.

I have one. I will never sell it. I love it like fresh crab legs.

When I had a few, I made a killing selling them at… 17g each LOL Ah how times have changed.

Seriously though, making everything easy to get makes investing pointless.

And yet that is how the game is these days. I got totally burned investing on last wintersday watching everything plummet into worthlessness. If you look at the electro dyes, whoever bought them all wasted a ton in listing prices because the demand is insanely low. Joke is on them for all the gold they lost.

It’s bad because Malediktus is a special snowflake who doesn’t want anyone else to be able to get those items.

As I said above I’ve already got the mini karka. I got it and the karka hatchlings during Lost Shores and the mini reef drake from the TP shortly after. (I also have Southsun Kasmeer and Faren from when they were first available.)

I’d much rather everyone else who wants them was able to get them than have the occasional person think mine is somehow extra-special because they can’t afford it.

It doesn’t have to be easy to get (although they were hardly difficult originally, I think I spent 45 minutes making and opening Consortium chests and got 2/3), but sooner or later the current supply is going to run down to nothing and then they will be completely impossible to get, which is not good IMO.

Because minis are collectors items, they shouldnt be cheap to collect. and mini karka is still cheap compared to the most expensive ones in GW1.

The quantity actually did drop to Zero in June. I bought a while back and won’t be adding it to wardrobe. Prices went from ~1750 to 2500 once they hit zero. Limited time event specific items should be left at just that. those items are special to collectors. Those who don’t have them complain that they can’t get them. But when they’re available to all no one cares because everyone has it.
