I think that Arenanet is really shooting themselves in the foot with these 7 day pet timers ..

I want a bunch of the ones right now on a 7 day timer BUT I won’t have spare money until the end of the month so I will not be able to get them ..

I guess it is just that they don’t want my money??

I can see ending a timer after a month or so but these pets are only up for a week and now are up on a 7 day timer and I bet a lot of us playing deal with money constraints so basically yet again maybe GW2 is only for the wealthy??

Everything offered in the gem store (with few exceptions) returns to the gem store at some point. So whichever minipet you want will be back.

Similarly, if you know that every month or four, something pops up that you really want (but don’t have the gems for until later), then plunk down US$10 (or the equivalent) whenever you can afford and build up a cache of gems. (This works for converting gold into gems, too.)

Of course ANet would like your money and of course this game isn’t only for the wealth. But —also, of course -- if you have plenty of cash, you can immediately gratify any want or need that can be purchased.

You are correct. ANet does not want your money and is going out of their way to not get it. Primarily because other people who would not have bought the minis if they didn’t have a timer splurged and got them before they ran out. The extra income they wouldn’t have gotten makes up for anything they lost from you specifically.
