Mini’s shouldn’t be giving any stat bonuses. They are supposed to look cool and follow you around. I could get behind a mini-dueling arena where they can fight, but I don’t think they should have any affect on regular combat.

it can proc with rune of the ranger

However, if the mini themselves have stat bonuses…. I do not want a power creep. Ascended is already bad enough

Cool, just throwing it out their is all, I dont see any reason why this would be bad, aside from making minis prices sky rocket… but then again, it would be nice seeing something diffrent. Never thought rune of the ranger proc’d it but you’re right it sounds like a could. And as far as the arena goes, yea I to would love it, but for now having them look “cool” is not really doing it for me, and thounsands of others otherwise I would see plenty of people using them I get awe struck when I see more than 10 in one area.

Certain ones like Liadri are limited time minis that are not accessible by any time and are not given to a portion of the playerbase. This would mean player A has a feature player B cannot possibly receive for maybe a year. This is 100% against Anet’s design.

I don’t understand the whole ‘slapped in the face with achievements’ part. Achievements are always optional.

Aside from that, I don’t think minis giving stat bonuses is a good idea. Minis are there to collect or just have a little mini follow you around. Nothing more, and nothing less. Just as it should be.

I’d go so far as to ask that the benefit that minis currently provide (Rune of the Ranger) be removed.

Others seem to be of the same mind in that it has already been reported several times in the bugs forum since it was found to behave that way. Unfortunately, there has been no acknowledgement from ANet of it actually being a bug or unintended behavior, let alone any word of if or when it may be corrected. :\

I think we should be able to gruesomely stomp nearby minis and gain 5 stacks of Bloodlust….

Seriously, they should not be displayable in Open World zones. Play with your toys in towns and then put them away.

AFAIK it is a bug and(/or at least) not intended. I’m actually surprised they didn’t fix it with latest patches. could be wrong with that though.

rune of the ranger is supposed to be the ranger-rune why should it be useful for other classes? well necromancers can have companions but I’m not sure they actually count as companions, too. anyway it doesn’t make sense the way it works currently.

B2T: that would be a horrible idea. arenanet would have to remove minis from the gem store or the game would become “P2W” (wouldn’t be so much with only a few stats on them but it still would be same as actual P2W)

Your post is very inconsistent. You say you’re an avid collector who has to have every one and that people are practically throwing money at Anet every time a new one comes out. Then you say they’re utterly useless and we’re being ‘slapped in the face’ when they only award a few achievement points.

How is adding stat bonuses supposed to help? If getting achievement points for them is a slap in the face getting a stat bonus would be even worse. All the people who currently don’t care about minis would feel forced to buy and use them for the bonuses and everyone who currently collects them would be paying a lot more to get them because of the increased demand.

But I think most of the complaints would be from people who don’t currently care about minis. Some of them cost hundreds of gold each, others can’t be acquired at all any more and some have very difficult requirements like beating Liadri or getting all the achievements in TA Aether path. If they suddenly give bonuses a lot of people would feel forced to get them and they’ll be facing a lot of grind and difficult targets to do it.

No thanks.

  • There is no reason to give us another stat boost.
  • It’s nearly impossible to get any minis at all, unless you go to the gem store or trading post.
  • As soon as a stat boost is even hinted at, the trading post prices will skyrocket and supply will go way down. This will make the gem store virtually the only place you can find minis, essentially adding a strong “pay to win” element to the game.
  • Mini packs are randomized, so players wanting a specific mini will become frustrated by RNG.
  • Minis will no longer be for fun. People will feel pressured to only bring their best “stat” minis, rather than the ones they personally like. Everyone will only use a small handful of the “best” minis. You have basically just turned them into an additional equipment slot.
  • Even a tiny stat boost would be pushing it, but the specific bonuses you outlined are incredibly overpowered.
  • Every single player will have a mini out, 100% of the time. People will complain at having to look at all these minis scrambling around everywhere, and ANet will introduce a “do not display minis” toggle in the graphics options.

I would like to see some kind of self-contained mini-game or activity designed around minis, so they have a purpose in the game. But the stat thing just will not work.

My first thought, upon seeing this thread. I can’t wait to be told I’m unwelcome in Ascalonian Catacombs because I’m not playing according to the Level 80 warrior mini Zojja meta… :-/

People do not look for minuscule stat increase like that.

I have not encountered a pug that looks for butternut curry soup or look for Ascended gear outside of fractals.
