I’m seeing some curious behaviour from the minis that were previously available through the gemstore that have been put into the Black Lion Chests, specifically the The Mini Super Monkey, Mini Super Spider, Mini Super Bee Dog, Mini Super Yeti, Mini Super Raccoon, and Mini Super Banana, which were added as rare drops.

If you get them from a Black Lion chest, all appear to be account bound, but only SOME appear to be forgeable.

For anyone who already has them, they are a completely wasted item to get from a Black Lion Chest, because there’s nothing that can be done with them, except let them take up space or delete them.

If they were forgeable, there’d at least be a purpose to them, but as it is, they are the new Queen Jennah, without even the benefit of having a dedicated ‘collections’ slot.

Can an Anet’er confirm if there is even a chance that in the future, they will be forgeable? I got the Super Yeti, the Super Beedog, and the Super Monkey. Of those 3, only the Yeti can be put into the forge, and I strongly suspect that this is because of the recipe for the Super Assasin:

As I mentioned in my original post, I got 3 already – all accountbound.

I bought 25 keys + 1 key rewarded = no super minis = super sad me. Super sad me would love to buy these from some other lucky duck!

I have to say that is pretty lame. Horrible BLC RNG on top of making them account bound so the people that got them and don’t want them can’t sell them and the people that want them can’t buy from sellers on the TP. That’s just sad.

They could have just put the mini-packs back in the gemstore, I would have bought them right away.

I (and many others) won’t waste money gambling on chests. Seems like typical anet money grubbing.

Hopefully it’ll turn out to be another oversight, and they were supposed be tradable.

2 minis from set A + 1 mini from set B = 3rd mini from set A

because then you can at least do a little bit of really expensive filtering after rng screws you over to get dat assassin or dat last mini you cant rng. frankly the way i see it, im happy that i bought the sets on the first go arounds, and im happy that theyre available again for people that want them, but im really really kittening stoked that theyre gonna be way more expensive for you people who werent there the first time. thanks anet, for keeping my minis speshul even while giving them to everyone else.

Honestly, that’s what I’m hoping for. When Mini Kasmeer came out, she was not forgeable like the Mini Scarlet et al. However, it was at least tradeable. They did subsequently fix this, so I’m hoping that they will make the new Super Minis either tradeable or forgeable (ideally both).

I understand the need for RNG in games, but sometime their RNG decisions just seem arbitrary and silly. I have been waiting for the SAB minis to come back for awhile, since I want the Super Bee Dog. They were 500 gems for the 3 pack originally. I was all ready to break out the wallet when they popped back up.

I could understand adding them to the BLC if they were tradeable. I could even understand adding them if they were selectable and you got to pick the one you want. But as it is, with only a rare chance to get a mini, and then just a chance for it to be the one I want, there is no way I could spend a reasonable amount of money on keys and be likely to get the dog, so I’m out. I have to imagine many other people are in this boat as well. Are there really enough people who will put themselves into the RNG grist for this to make up for all the people they’re turning off?

Make them tradeable, or make them selectable, but the current system is just a huge turnoff.

Admit since these are rare, they kind of lose a lot of value by being account bound. Please remove the account bound and allow these to be tradeable. Thanks!

I wish these were tradeable so I could buy the extras from other people. I have long since needed a bee dog in my life.

I hope they become tradeable also. I already have the bee dog (adorable) ^^ and the monkey. If I get more, what can I do with them except tie up scarce inventory space. I would much rather sell them to people who want them.

They would likely go for more than 3 g, not that it matters if they did.

It’s dumb that these are in BL chests. After you get 1, the rest are 100% useless. At least you can sell extra mini Kasmeers.

Some of us already paid for them the first time. I did, and I would be upset if I got one in a BL chest instead of something that I could use.

It took me about 50 keys to get my first one, then after that they started coming in like hot cakes. Have all 6 (minus assassin which u cant get cuz no continue coin)

This might make sense if each mini you got was one you actually needed. Having 10 of the same mini when you can only use 1 makes zero sense.

And no one cares if other people also have the same minis that I do.

I think you have it backwards. I care that if everyone and their grandma would have access to these, but I don’t care if people got them from SAB or bought keys to get them.

I got banana and racoon yesterday, and monkey today. From opening 3 chests in a row.

Yeah I don’t waste cash gambling on chests in any game. Tera has a similar thing, but certain outfits can rarely drop from certain containers that you have to buy. I farm the gold and buy the outfit in-game rather than pay however much to gamble for one that probably won’t drop for me.

This is why I farmed black lion keys. I prefer wasting ~2 hours of my time (that I would be wasting on something else meaningless anyway) obtaining one key than wasting cash I know should be spent elsewhere.

That being said, I have no objection to those who actually do buy keys with gems. I just like to buy stuff outright from another source rather than gamble to maybe get something.

I’m lucky in that this doesn’t directly affect me – I got all the SAB minis when they were sold in packs and I never buy black lion keys so I’m unlikely to get stuck with extras.

But I absolutely agree that if they’re going to come from the chests they should be tradable. I assume they’re not simply because the originals weren’t, but that’s because they were a direct sale in the gem store.

Forcing people who want them to gamble on RNG boxes and people who don’t want them to be stuck with a useless item they know could be worth quite a bit if only they could sell it just frustrates everyone involved.

And in this case the usual defence of “exclusivity” doesn’t even apply since everyone who was around back when SAB was in-game had the opportunity to simply buy them. You may not seem them around as often now but at the time it seemed like every other person had one.

It also drives down the black lion weapon skin prices if more people buy the keys. Which is positive for me since I am trying to collect them all for the achievement points.
