I was thinking about this the other day, and one feature I really miss from Guild Wars 1 is the Guild Halls that each guild could acquire after pooling their efforts together. Heck, I wouldn’t even mind my hall of monuments being like a personal home where i can set up a house of some sorts. I’m not sure how many people would enjoy it, but i do know that decorating and whatnot would give me more to do and would make the game feel more immersive. It feels weird to be an epic hero that has no place to put his feet up between battles and adventures.

I’m not sure if other people enjoyed the guild hall feature as much as i did.

The last word on the subject about guild halls and personal housing from Anet, and it was quite some time ago was that they were waiting for a time when they could do it right. so no new word on this. And I have never read anything saying it will never happen so it’s a wait and see. In the immortal words from Anet “It will be ready when it’s ready”

Housing is one of the easiest ways to give people RP immersion and things to grind for that don’t affect balance and take inflation down.

Imagine if they made a series of leather furniture that used a stack of cured thick leather per piece. Suddenly it has a value and I can stop merching it because my inventory is full.

Why anet isn’t pursuing this is anyone’s guess. The inherently cosmetic nature of housing means they can sell a ton of froofroo junk in the gem store.

The only thing I can think of is they can’t figure out how to do it and make the “I have to show off my in game achievements because I project personal value onto a video game” people happy who will just call it useless crap unless they can shove how “boss” their house is in everyone’s face and have it in a place where people have to walk past it.

Anet caters to those folks and housing that works that way is infeasible.
