I think nobody ever uses this skill(who has it) because of its gigantic cooldown. Its not stronger comparing to Thief Guild or Warband cromades, but it has unrealistic cooldown.

150 secounds is way too much, reducing it to 80 or even 60 would be enough.

Please, think about this seriously!!!!

I have characters that use Mistfire wolf, merely because it looks neat.

There are times I car far more for the look of a toon than for what the most powerful ability is.

They did. That’s why it’s a cool looking skin-skill which is only useful for low-level newbies and does not make those people who paid for the Deluxe edition more efficient than others.

I think it would be fair to compare it to Hounds of Balthazar, or, as the OP does, to Warband Support, since racial skills are widely accepted as being weaker than profession skills, so that there’s no significant advantage to creating a character with a particular race/class combination. The Sylvari skill Summon Sylvan Hound is an even closer comparison, and someone wrote up some of the pros and cons of each on that page.

How the Mistfire Wolf compares to those generally, I really couldn’t say. It does at least have a better active time to cooldown ratio than Hounds of Balthazar, at least, and I use that all the time on my Ranger since I don’t really like the Ranger elites.

Edit: Also, you don’t unlock the Elite slot until level 30, and there’s nothing to stop you from unlocking a class elite right away at that point. The idea that it’s only useful for low-level newbies just doesn’t make sense. (Unlike, say, the Hero’s Band.)

I think the cooldown is just fine. I only use it when soloing/duoing tough content on characters that don’t have access to a substantive ‘pet’, e.g. the wolf is very helpful to my mesmer, to keep some aggro off when illusions aren’t robust enough for that purpose.

Any shorter CD and the skill would be OP’d compared to other elites, defeating its purpose of being an early-access elite for players with special editions of the game.

I use it, but only on characters where I am not spending skill points (basically some key farmers I’ve kept for way too long). It is definitely a lame elite, but it’s one you don’t need to spend 10/30 skill points on.

Seing how a lot of classes have useless Elite skills for pve, there should be more than enough opportunities to use it while leveling.

How come? Fiery Speed Shoes and Bear Elemental are quite useful in certain scenarios!
