Mobile Authentication Disabled
So…
You added a new layer of security to your account, only to moan it is doing its job when asking you for the authenticator number?
Did you read my post at all ? Go try the Battlenet Authenticator for Bliz and you will know what i mean… It remembers your “location” when you log in after entering the authentication code and if you log in from the same location continuously, it wont prompt you for the code repeatly; making code requests less often unless you log in from a different location. It is more efficient like this. So ya; learn2read b4 you try to make some smart kitten comment .

I can’t believe you’re complaining about this, it take a few extra sec to enter the 6 # code.
if you don’t like it, take it off and don’t say another word about it. Anet did not make there authenticator like Blizzard did, they used Goggles. so they have no say in what happens.
This is still a beta and there are some things on the to-do list. Remembering your location is one of them…
Copperic, again… learn2read.. this post is not suppose to be a complaint; the main point of the post was my question if email authentication would be reactivated if i disabled Mobile Authentication. I simply gave the reason why i disable Mobile Authentication and gave a friendly suggestion to Anet.
I like it the Mobile Authentication the way it is – I want to be prompted every time I log in. I want to see that authentication is active, so I am alerted immediately if anything is awry. I also like to know that even someone sitting at my PC in my absence, cannot login to my account.
I’m actually amazed that a seemingly large number of people make the effort to increase their account security with mobile authentication… but are then not willing to take it all the way, and be prompted every time.
Anyway, if they make it possible to NOT be prompted every time… I would hope they make that an option, rather than one-size-fits-all.
As to whether disabling Mobile Authentication re-enables email authentication… since nobody seems to know, it might be an idea to log a support ticket (and let us all know what you find out)
Ok i just disabled my Mobile Authenticator for Guildwars 2 due to the fact it prompts me for the serial code; every single time i log in. There should at least a “memory system” like the Battlenet Authenticator, which remembers you if you’re logging in from the same location; avoiding repeated entries of the serial code. Hope Anet does something about this
Anyways can anyone tell me after i disable Mobile Authenticator, would the Email Authentication for my account be enable again ? Because the site tells me that if you install the Mobile Authenticator, Email Authentication would be disabled.
Luccian, I’m sorry you’re getting flamed. These forums are horrible sometimes. Anyways, I also agree with you. There should be an option to remember your location so you don’t have to constantly type in a new six-digit code every time you login.
Unfortunately, I don’t know whether the email authentication can be enabled again. Check your account settings.
Seriously… stop complaining. They provided you with extra security for your account. The only difference is that the Bnet authenticator gives you the option to do a code EVERY SINGLE time, or once every 30 days based on the original IP you logged in under. Regardless, I use the code every single time for my Guild Wars 2 account and for any of my Blizzard games. I have the app on my phone.. and my phone is always with me. It takes less than a second to 10-key the code into the prompt.
Stop it.
I installed the Mobile Authenticator when they first released it, and ran with it for a few days. Well, I got sick of entering that code every single time I wanted to log on. Fast forward a few days later, I log onto my warrior to see both my sets of exotic armor had been vendored, all my exotic weapons were gone as well, and my 10g was gone. (True story)
So do I mind entering that code when I log on now? Hell no, I’m more than happy to do so. Don’t kitten about being lazy, because in the end its not worth getting hacked over.
As far as I can tell the Google Authenticator vis GW2 is working in exactly the same way the Blizzard authenticator worked. The only difference I have noticed is that the Google Authenticator codes are shorter than the Blizzard authenticator codes.
I just want them to fix the crash issue with the authenticators
I just want them to fix the crash issue with the authenticators
My crashing has decreased dramatically, if not gone away entirely. My only disconnect yesterday was a household internet hiccup.
