Mobs reset with no reason, bug ?
Don’t leash the mobs too far. They get bored with you and go home. Also, if you’re in an area that is impossible for the mob to counter-attack it’s going to blow you off. Beyond that, I’ve never had issues in this regards.
Mobs will reset the fight when you kite them too far from their starting location or when you are standing in a place where it is impossible for them to hit you (like on the roof of a building or up a cliff wall).
As long as you are just dodging, etc. then they won’t reset. It sounds like you are trying to use the terrain to your advantage, and the game is designed to prevent you from doing that in order to prevent exploits.
I’ve said it is neither of those things. They can reach me. And I’m aware mobs are tied to locales. It is something that is almost akin to a bug.
Or it could be that the mob healed it self… or could be one of the many ones that have more then one phase, after getting to a certain damage level there health resets for a 2nd phase of a fight…
Other then the above or standing in a evade spot or running to far I have never had a mobs health reset other then when it was a mechanic of the fight.
Yeah, you’re going to have to tell us which mob you are trying to kill.
I am aware some mobs are tied to certain locations and will reset if kited out of them. I’m not even talking about that (although that is stupid as well.)
Its not stupid, since else you could never avoid fights with running away if mobs will chase you forever.
Else, i know that was a big problem with underwater fights after release, but haven’t had any problems with that since a long time.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Everyone complains about exploits in this game but one exploit you don’t see very often is bosses being killed without being able to hit people at all. This is because the mobs reset if they feel they are being exploited. These triggers probably do need to be in the game, yes there are probably false positives when the bosses reset at wrong times, and yes you will be seeing more than most because you are pushing the boundaries of solo play. Yes the reset rules could be better and no it will not be fixed as it affects so few players.
Just get zerker ascended gear, you can do more dps then they regen and you can kill them anyway.

This. I’ve never seen a mob just randomly heal in the middle of a fight (except for self healing of course). OP is probably doing something wrong and is now blaming the game.
There are certain mobs that will reset and heal even if you fight them literally right on top of the point where they spawn, and thats what i assume the op is talking about. Just submit a bug report and they may get fixed eventually though i doubt it will be a high priority.

(…) Like with the power nodes and the current living story. I’ve solo’d about 10 of them so far, but came upon one (which i had solo’d yesterday) that reset on me 6-8 times in a row. Couldn’t kill one freaking mob for some reason. Just kept resetting with super health regen, like 5 seconds into the fight. Drove me nuts.

Let’s concentrate on this part, what mobs were you fighting at this node – we will assume you did not try to kite them away from the node itself.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
There is only one place that this happens to me and it is only one mob that is a problem. The vet jellies in Frostgorge will always reset no matter what unless they are being attacked by a pet (ranger or mesmer or necro).
Other than than never happens without running out of the leash area.
the code can be strict sometimes. it doesn’t check if the mob can attack you (as I’ve experienced the same thing – where the mob is attacking me but also healing at the same time). it checks if the mob can run to you. if you are on a slightly elevated platform that requires jumping to get to, the mob will likely start to regen soon, even if the mob is ranged.
knowing this can be useful: stand on a small cliff that can be run to, but running is a long way around. the melee mob will run to you, you jump off the cliff, then they run back to you, you jump back up the cliff, they will run to you again. like kiting for the lazy.
p.s. how do you get mobs to attack clones??? the only time I can get them to do that is if I summon the clone first, dont attacking the mob, stay far away, let the mob hit the clone, then I can release the fury. once the clone dies, the mob will always target me and not the clones. even going invisible the mob will stand there idle and wait for me to reappear instead of targeting clones. They are less easy to fool than in pvp.

It happens to me in wvw- get the camp guards down to a sliver of health and they turn and run/heal up. I’ve just started trying to solo camps and that is so frustrating. I had it happen at the veteran wurm once. It moved all the way left, and nothing I did would make it move back toward the middle, so he healed and returned to the starting position. I have encountered the problem with the mobs near the probes as well. It’s a little trickier when you’re trying to range and keep a distance. You just have to learn how far away you can be from the initial fight, though it is very frustrating when you’ve almost accomplished something and it resets.
i hate when the mob starts super regenerating while sill attacking me rather than going back to its original position and this is what op means it happens at random probably when mob is pulled out of the leash range but the mob does not decide to cancel combat and withdraw and just keeps fighting .
