Mobs we love to hate
Risen, mobs that pull and tear you apart, making you unable to run past them.
Orr, all of it. I hate it.
Risen Asura. Speedy little fu- er kittens.
And krait. Krait in the water. Risen krait in the water.
Really, such a visceral hatred I have for these things. Makes me want to save Tyria from this menace. Rise with me heroes!
Krait. All of them.
Some weird pirate jerk in some place.
Nothing I did worked on him. They killed me without resistance. When I looked at the tip under their name as to what special ability they had, it just said “fights dirty”.
I have yet to see him anywhere else there are pirates! It’s so weird.
Krait. All of them.
This and barracudas… Dear god the barracudas…
I can’t pass by a Skritt without applying a slap.
It’s an unreasonable hatred stemming from my experiences in my first foray into the beta. I chanced upon a Skritt bottle lobber who was about three levels above me and I was unprepared for the encounter. Now, despite knowing better and obtaining sufficient levels on my main to handle Skritt in copious amounts in Queen’s Forest, I experience a kill or be killed reaction that ensures carnage will ensue whenever they’re around.
I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve escorted Slim Mikhart on his mission to blow up their cave support.
And still they return. Still they plague me…
Risen Chickens. Just cause.
And Krait, the bane of my underwater existence.
I can’t pass by a Skritt without applying a slap.

And some people want them as a playable race. :P
Things that have a longer range than you’d expect on their melee attacks. Griffins are the worst. Most risen are pretty bad too.

Think about PvP
Any mob that stunlocks you, pulls you, runs faster than you, chills/cripples you/immoibilizes/knockdowns or if they’re everywhere. Risen mobs fit into that category quite a bit.
Earth Elementals.
10sec cripple, wtf.
Any monster that removes your ability to move around.
Ooze and their immobilize auto attacks from longrange…
spiders with their immobilize long range and then their cripple bite
various hyena’s and things
Any risen or krait who pull you backwards into them, especially the ones that can pull you from offscreen and literally through walls. (though this can have some hilarious effects in the water)
Seriously, in a game based around the feeling of exploration, why are there so many non-critical monsters who take that away from you, with their basic auto attacks…
Veteran Abominations with frenzy.
Those bloody little risen asura thrawls that yell out in the manliest ogre voice “EVERYONE, COME!”
Team Shatter [TS]
Risen… Krait… Risen Krait.
And then no one comes…
Team Shatter [TS]
Krait, especially the krait witch in caledon forest. When she uses that pull move that pull in everyone around her and often one hits people into downed state. Then seals everyones fate by laying down the poison AOE, completely nullifying any and all healing and attempts to get back up. I’ve seen this mob wipe out groups of people at a time.
Everyone…
Death…
Someone finish my most hated sentences.
Risen farmers.
“Hahahahaha, a spade, what does he think he’s going to do with that?”
SPANG!
Flat on my butt every time :E
Actually, I don’t mind them too much now, but when I first got to Orr they were the bane of my existence.
What I really hate is that I can’t get my daily kill variety in Orrian areas .
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
All of Orr, and All dredge. Take too long to die and get in your way ALL of the time.
kitten EVERYTHING in Orr.
Finally 100% the three maps in the Orr region today (would have done it days ago if they weren’t all so buggy), good riddance to a truly rage-inducing area!
Krait, Putrifiers and centaurs… Those kitten centaurs…
Every single animal that is plastered around the world in unnatural numbers. Worse, are those same animals that attack for no reason, this slowing me down and annoying me.
Why is everything so hostile? Geez!
Rock dogs. Fifteen characters.
Anything that can stealth. It would be a great mechanic if I actually felt any tension or danger when a creature vanished, but as it is it’s just an annoying delay in its inevitable death.
Bunnies!
Message Body length must at least be 15!
Much of what’s in Orr. The constant CC, especially the jarring and headache inducing constant pulls. The massively long aggro range, along with fast respawns, huge numbers, high HP, light speed. Then you HAVE to kill them in order to get anywhere, since waypoints are very often contested.
Outside of Orr, I particularly hate Dredge (still haven’t gotten my dodge timing down to avoid their SPAMMED sonic blasts), and the exploding spiders in Twilight Arbor.
Harathi Lancers – Their launch attack is often too fast to dodge, it completely throws you away and leaves you open for a trampling stunlock.
Krait – Just because they are ugly, annoying and pretty lethal as well.
Ascalonian Ghosts – You fight one, suddenly there are 10!
Sharks – 20 bleed stacks within a couple of seconds, ugh
Ooze – Deadly and utterly boring, wrapped inside a gelly package.
I agree on anything that hinders movement. Notably:
Earth Elemtals
Risen Putrifier
Bull Sharks
Krait. All of them.
OMG this! Especially since you hardly ever fight them 1 on 1 and they have pulls. Also those frog guys with the rapid fire poison darts (you dodge and they still hit you, you use the healing that ticks and washes DoTs but their charge lasts longer -_- ) and the poison lasts forever -_-

You have to time its stealth then dodge. It doesn’t work all the time but try afflicting it with a DoT before it stealths. This isn’t WoW so it won’t pop out of stealth but it will still take damage =)
Raptors. I hated them in GW1 and still hate them now.
Rabbits. I really think there’s something wrong with me actually, I’m a vegetarian in real life, and yet I can’t walk past a rabbit without killing the little bugger… help me…
Drakes. On the entire first page how has no one mentioned drakes? They are everywhere. Every region has their own special little breed of drake. From 1-80 one thing you are guaranteed to do anywhere you go is a dynamic event involving drakes, or killing drakes for the next tier of crafting mats.
If the drakes ever learn to effectively communicate and organize, it’s the end of every single race on Tyria. You can’t hide from them, you can never out number them. They are so naturally well built that half of the weapons and armor on the continent are made out of their scales, teeth and claws.
Drakes man. Something needs to be done about them.

Barracudas and Centaurs. I want to eradicate them all. Whipe them off the face of the planet. Destroy them so completely that even their DNA cannot be found.
Anything from Orr (was it necessary to give them all knockdowns, pulls and immobilises – the place is a pain to play in sometimes) and wurms. Every time I come across a field of ice wurms I am bombarded with cheap, infuriating knockdowns. It actually makes me angry. I just avoid any part of the game that has them in it, it’s just plain annoying and unfun. I have no problem with these mechanics (for example, when centaurs and ettins use them) but there are some mobs which seem to be overtuned to the point where the concept of fun has gone out the window.
Hint: When a mob stealths, even though you don’t see the hits registering, you are still hitting them if you swing your weapon. I use this tactic all the time, and I inevitably have the mobs drop out of stealth only to die immediately.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
The first time I fought the Unseen Hunter, it was with my Asura with a condition stacking build.
The Unseen Hunter is immune to conditions.
“A release is 7 days or less away or has just happened within the last 7 days…
These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”
Orr, all of it. I hate it.
^^ This. Can’t stand Orr because of the Risen. Most annoying, uninteresting foes I’ve ever seen in any game.
These things do not invoke dread, fear, worry or concern from me. They invoke a weary sigh of “really again?”… and this is over and over and over and over and… /bored
Risen grubs when they are tossed out by risen giants. Those pools they spew then proceed to spit on you like no tomorrow.
Same goes for those risen birds. 1 of them, not so bad. 2 or 3, especially as adds in an already ongoing fight, might want to put your affairs in order.
The invoke worry for me. You never know when you aggro one how many will follow it. Then you either run, and risk aggroing more/bigger/worse enemies or try to fight however many there are in tight corners so you don’t inadvertently pull more that you didn’t see. And gods forbid a dynamic event spawn in your immediate area. Then your fight is interrupted as about 50 more risen bum rush you.
Orr is the only area where you have to pay attention to where you are going and what you are doing. If you aggro one thing, odds are three or more are coming your way and you need to be prepared. Because if you take too much damage or blow to many resources, you might aggro another group by breathing in the wrong direction too hard when recovering.
It’s really the only zone (besides Fireheart rise) where you can’t just tra-la-la around without a worry. Yes that can be aggravating. Especially if you are trying to do one specific thing and they keep getting in the way. But it’s also nice to have enemies and z one that keeps you on your toes.

Groups of Ice Elementals. Just dodge out of the red circle? OhMyGodRedCirclesEverywhere!
You know the cave I’m talking about.
Risen and underwater ones that are packed way too close together. Oh and the wildlife that seem to all gang up on me. I’ll be fighting a veteran or champion and all of a sudden Bambi and friends come over and join in to help the monster, very annoying.
Any mob with the ‘destroyer’ tag on it. Too much burning condition
3rd Flora Artillery Unit
Multiple pistol wielding pirates. Oh hey a pirate fight him and 3 more come out from nowhere, oh and of course they don’t all shoot me at once so I can dodge it all, I’m running from pirate to pirate limping like a zombie can’t decide which one to kill (because at least one of them crippled me) whIle my character looks like a piñata getting blasted from different angles all at once hahaha.
Also any mob that pulls, such a great mechanic, but boy it can inspire some rage when you aren’t expecting it/low hp/30572047 mobs next to the one that pulled you.
This thread is hilarious.
Guardian-Blueprinted, Warrior- Grizzilli
[JCM] Guild: Ehmry Bay WvW
I was originally gonna say the Skales I think (the one’s that invis) but I found that if you treat em like a thief, they die really fast (just spam autoattack).
So, now it would be earth elementals. The insanely long cripple is somewhat ridiculous.
Actually on second thought, I’d have to agree with the dual wielding pistol pirates. That is some serious instagank (I’m an ele).
Various other classes for figuring out how to kill em (thief, warrior, mesmer, etc…)
War is much more fun when you’re winning! – General Martok
i would say Krait and any aggressive underwater creature, they really rustle me up.
the risen in orr are a pain in thekitten when trying to go somewhere though.
