So, I was doing Molten Facility earlier, and when fighting the final boss, it made me think… Where did Anet get the inspiration for that fight. Then, I remembered Dark Souls, the Ornstein and Smough boss fight. They’re similar, but not exact copies. For example, and the most apparent thing about that’s similar is that there are two bosses to fight, and kill. The second thing that stood out, and the thing that made me come to the assumption that they were inspired by Dark Souls is that when you kill one of the bosses, the other absorbs the power of the fallen, and thus gains a new ability to use against you during the fight.

What are your thoughts on this? Anyone else agree?

Not the best gameplay of the fight, but it gives you an idea.

Yeah I saw the resemblance myself. Prefer Darks Souls but that’s down to the different combat gameplay.

The “fight two boss at the same time, kill one and the other absorbs it’s power” thing is hardly new or unique to Dark Souls. I’ve never played Dark Souls but I was expecting that to happen anyway because that has been used in so many RPGs.

The entire boss sequence seemed more like a Borderlands boss. Right down to the intro, the personalities and the transition cutscene.

The double boss, gain a unique ability when you kill one idea has been in hundreds of games over the past few decades.

It was well done though, I enjoyed this fight more then most in this game.
