Guild Wars 2

Hi all!

I remember before the launch of Guild Wars 2 there was some people who was contacted by ArenaNet/NCsoft and was told to remove monetising from YouTube videos featuring Guild Wars 2 content. I just enabled monetising for my channel, and i need to know if i can upload Guild Wars 2 content to it? Currently there is no Guild Wars 2 content on the channel, but i have some planned.

It’s technically against the rules. However, they don’t actively go out and request take downs. Back when people were getting their videos removed, it was not just because of monetization. When it first happened, it was around the time other videos were being removed due to NDA breaches.

I believe as long as its a value-add its ok (which means you arn’t simply uploading game music, in game cutscenes etc without commentary/playing). Officially they can come after you for it, unofficially, they LIKE lets-plays featuring their game.

So i won’t end up in any problems because of it? I wouldn’t like my YouTube nor Guild Wars 2 account closed

I don’t believe you’re allowed to run Ad’s on Gw2 videos. A fair amount were purged not too long ago.

As long as you give them their cut, they’re happy!

Its all silly. GW2 videos helps keep focus on GW2, which helps the game by supplying new buyers.
