My friend and I have been arguing about which method is best for making money.

My View: Run the fast dungeon paths once, with a well organized group. These dungeons include Cof, SE, AC, HotW, TA, etc. After this I would go to the frostgorge sound champion farm.

My friends view: Run the fast dungeon paths repeatedly even if the dungeon tokens are on diminishing returns, in order to exchange tokens for rares and sell the globs of ectoplasm received from them.

Which do you think is the faster way to make money?

Neither. Both are okay money, but nothing beats investments in terms of profit/minute.

I will state its better to do daily bosses than do dungeons on DR, but both are quite horrific and only for a short period per day before the dungeons are exhausted.

Investments are what you do on the side to make money while you are actually playing the game. Farming is still useful for gettting seed money while your gold is tied up in investments. Of course you could spend your whole play session flipping fast moving items but I question why you’d even play the game at that point.

IMO frostgorge is better than dungeons on dr. But champ bags are getting a nerf on the 15th so maybe not after that.

But the bags are only taking a 50% hit to silver?

Hehe, for those who can. Just work a little more. 1 hr of extra pay a day would far exceed whatever you can make ingame. Then go buy some gems and visit the TP ^^

Include CoE 123 and Arah 1234 in your tour rotation and you’ll be set. Dungeons net you a ton of raw gold and mats. Plus, you can still exchange tokens for rares and salvage for ecto.

I just run dungeons. I don’t get why you’d play dungeon paths on DR tbh. Even with a fast, organised group it takes a couple of hours to go through them all.

Btw, after the patch dungeons will definitely be the best farm in the game because of the champ bag nerf.

standard high level dungeon tour. nets around 50 to 70 gold per tour

tour lasting about 3 hours.

Dungeon touring still is, and SHOULD always be the best way to make gold in the end game. outside of economics and the trading post.

In what bizzaro world are you making ~20g an hour doing ANY dungeon? Selling spots for arah barely makes that much, and requires you to solo the entire instance, then find people to buy the spots etc…

The current best way to make money in the game is Orr farming on a guardian with MEGA AUTISM regarding server changes and knowing what events to do and were using an API / overlay etc… and thats 12g an hour?

The game is rigged to make you either…

1. Get lucky with drops, you need to of gotten at least 3-5 precursors. This is really only possible when anet does things like the karka events were they were dropping like candy.

2. Get away with exploits, early on there were people super rich within 1 month of release with karma exploits, snowflakes, vendors, then they are people exploiting arah and selling spots since anet never fixes their PvE content.

3. Spend ur scheckles on the ncsoft fun money store like a good go- guy

Speedruns, although 20g is only if you have lucky drops. However 15g is more than doable.

speed runs,

the numbers i quoted are what I personally average, i know others that do more and or less.

Cursed shore farming is really good as well. but it requires a bigger group. Dungeon tours require only 5.

I do 17 dungeon sets on my days off. I made 20-30 gold average on JUST the TP profits. Factor in the raw gold from the dungeon, some from the champ bags, along with regular loot… And that’s decent money.

That’s only the fast dungeons, and doesn’t even factor in arah.

Through what dungeon? 20 minutes would be pretty kitten good for any path of arah x3 that’s 6g + crappy drops. Im not seeing it, You are going to have to explain the times and what dungeons/paths.

If you are like in the top 0.1% of meta groups clearing arah in 5-10 minutes with 10 second lupi kills even then i don’t see 15g an hour, after 30 minutes you run out of your 3g a run bonuses and are basically just farming crap out of chests (~15 chests an hour?) And again this is with the best possible team makeup with the best possible players going at 110% efficency (no fun allowed).

ac1/3 coe 1-3 cof1 gives you roughly 11 gold for an hour of your time with a good group(s).

Those are the ones I do on a regular basis and know pretty much everything about. Any item drops are just a bonus. I make 10 gold a day (average) by playing the game if I’m not interested in making/buying anything and half the time I’m online I’m sitting afk in town. If I’m interested in buying/making something I can farm upwards of 40/50 gold in a matter of a days worth of play.

Follow the darkness into the depths, it’s more fun than the light can provide.

You obviously only factor in raw gold reward. Sell everything you drop + salvaged insignias/inscription and ectos from tokens and your amount will be much higher. If you have any good jewel recipes that becomes even more.

Also 20min is about average for most arah paths. We get that time when we’re very lazy about might stacking.

for 15g thats 3 runs at 20 minutes.

3 runs bonus gold is ~11g counting the chests and everyting

rares yeild about 33s
salvaging blues and stuff gives about 3-5s each

15g is possible but only because of the bonus gold, you can do this any longer than 1 hour because the amount of gold decreases greatly over 50%.

AC 1/3, Cm 1/3, TA up/F, SE 1/3, COE 1/2/3, CoF 1/2, HoTw 1, Arah 1/2/3

about 4 hours worth of running. Just from the dungeon end loot your at 20 to 25 gold. Sell off all crafting mats from salvages etc. your up another 20 to 25. and yes like Cranos said, make dungeon specific trinkets. or buy toys for inscriptions. and you have even more.

Dungeon running can be very lucrative. IF… IF… you have a solid, consistant group. and know what is going on.
