The monocle does not unlock for all armor weights in the wardrobe, despite similar Living story items with differing weights already doing so (Fused gauntlets, Air-filtration device, Horns of the Dragon). Is this intentional?

Yes, as there are 3 different Monocles on the TP, one for each specific weight.

The air-filtration device is the same, but it unlocks over all 3 armor weights if you have one of them.

No it’s not. Copy that on your chat : [&AgH/vgAA] No mention of any weight.

Monocles are not skin, monocles come in 3 differents weight type.
Aidan was right.

Afaik, I’m still probably wrong, I was sure that the air-filtration devices were sets of armor, given that they still have separate item codes ([&AgEBvwAA], [&AgECvwAA], [&AgEAvwAA]). The reason that I’m curious about the monocle is that they share the same skin through armor weights, but they don’t propagate through your wardrobe in the same manner ([&AgEqqgAA], [&AgErqgAA], [&AgEsqgAA]). I’m probably just talking nonsense because I’m worried about spending 500g to unlock the other weights and have it turn out this was unintentional.

Post in the wardrobe thread and maybe an anet dev can give you an answer. Other than that, it’s up to you if you want to wait and see or buy it now and find out otherwise later.

It seems to me they the skins of the Monocle should all unlock. The Dragon Bash helmet came in 3 different weights, and all of those unlocked. The Fused Gauntlets all unlocked, as far as I remember.

There are still some bugs with the Wardrobe and skins, so I would certainly wait a bit before purchasing any skins of different weights.

I had all three dragon helm weight types unlocked after using one of them. I can confirm it’s happening with at least one item.

Why not the monocle idk.

As an asura, I do this all the time.”

Because the monocle was a armor drop much like the weapons in the 80 TA aether path. All of these other items were either skin consumables or tied to the event in a particular manner eg: meta completion.

The air-filtration device was a drop from the tri-key chest. Which was a piece of armor, not a skin afaik.

Yes, I had only ever managed to loot the Light Armor one, but I now have it on my Ranger. So, all of them unlocked. I think the Monocle is an oversight.

The air-filtration device was also an account bound skin Consumable on aquire, I had 3. Used 1 to unlock for wardrobe via pvp and still have 2. This version unlocked for all 3 armor weights. This version cannot be sold.

The monocle was only ever an armor.

Ah, well, I suppose that makes sense then. Never had a Monocle, so I am not that familiar with them. There aren’t many Armors with the same skin for all 3 weights, are there? That could make it confusing.

And there is this, as well, which muddles the problem: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Air-Filtration_Device_of_Antitoxin_%28heavy%29 and comes in Medium and Light…as Armor. (Same skin as above.)

Right, it came as an armor drop and a consumable drop. Actually came from the same place.

Don’t ask me why they did this. Well, I kind of get the picture though. the skins can’t be sold for gold. RNG plays are part here on the community. Those that weren’t lucky enough for skins still have a shot at acquiring them through the tp.

If what you say is true about having an armor drop and it unlocking for all 3 weights, then I dunno. Maybe the monocle should do the same.

Honestly, skin consumables should be unique. Armors should be unique. There are plenty of skin consumables on the tp that are skins only, have no armor/weapon counterpart. That system seems better to me if you are going to have the two types.

No idea why that air breathing mask is the odd man out. Perhaps a test of some sort?
