Today is basically the first time I’ve had a chance to play this month. I was going to power through and spend all week on getting my monthly, but now that I see the Monthly Completionist track, I’m starting to think it’s not possible. If it’s correct that I’d have to complete five full dailies before I could take this monthly, then there simply are not enough days in the month to do it.
February is already a short month. This seems a little unfair. I spent three gold on stuff to salvage in the trading post before I realised this. Anyone else in a similar situation? Can anyone confirm if I’m mistaken or that this has been addressed elsewhere (I’ve searched here and several other places but couldn’t find any mention)? Please tell me I’m wrong! =(

I spent three gold on salvage stuff before reading the rest of it because friends/guildmates had previously mentioned that particular part of the monthly at work and I was gearing up for it. I honestly didn’t expect I’d have had to start five days prior to the end of February to be able to finish. Like I said, I’m surprised… it seems sort of thoughtless on the part of the dev team in my opinion, that’s all.

They tell you exactly what you have to do for the full thing. It’s your fault you didn’t read it.
“I couldn’t log in before!”. Yeah, that happens, and it sucks, especially because it’s rarely due to good things, but that’s not ANet’s fault either.
Is it unreasonable to ask you to log in 5 days and do a daily throughout an entire month? “February is shorter!!” Yeah, by 2/3 kittening days… Cry me a river!
Essentially, you couldn’t log in for most of the month, then proceeded to burn money without thinking to grind a month-long quest in a couple of days without even reading the requirements, and… This is ANet’s fault somehow?

I’m not even mad about the money, it was only one other point. I’m just saying it seems harsh to set a time limit even earlier than the end of the already short month. And yes, that is ArenaNet’s fault… in my opinion it was thoughtless, again because of the short month. Of course it’s not their fault I couldn’t log in, but that’s not what I’m saying. I’m also not crying a river. It’s (a little more than) mildly annoying and I wanted to see if anyone else was in the same situation.
OP, I hate to say it, but there’s not much fault to lay on ArenaNet here. There were five daily completions required for the Monthly out of twenty-eight days. You logging on at the end of the month to try to push the Monthly through would have been a valiant effort . . .
But you should have checked what you needed to do in full before going and spending significant amounts of coin on it, you could (though I say this with a softer tone since your “personal reasons” could be akin to one which kept me from playing for a bulk of January) . . . could have logged in once to check during the rest of the month . . .
But, alas, you didn’t. And you’re stuck. My sympathies, but if it’s not possible then the only thing left to do is decide where to go from there.

It’s dumb of you to call them thoughtless. They gave you 28 days to do a “monthly” that required only 5 days of logged in time. It’s not a “weekly”. You chose to jump the gun on the spending, so don’t even try and use that pity card. It’s thoughtless of you to not stop and think “I have less than three days to start and finish something that is set to take a whole month, do I even bother? Five Dailies? Not even possible.” We all get that real live is greater than the game, but we don’t all go kitten on the devs for not predicting our individual lives and coding to fit each and everyone. They’re already giving us “choose your own” achievements to better suit our play time/style.

Sorry man, it’s called a monthly for a reason. I saw this as the easiest and best achievement to get over and done with, and was the first one I had done. But in your current predicament, it’s actually the other way around now.
Then again, it’s not really supposed to be steam rolled through, that’s not really the point of monthlies. Your monthly is supposed to enforce some form of dedication. The daily completionist is part of that dedicated play.
So, while I do understand your plight, on the other hand, in light of the January update featuring some big changes to the daily system, I do agree with daily achievements being added in.

That depends on when the Monthly flips over. Somehow I expect it to flip tomorrow at 6pm central.

This is like realizing you have an essay due today, but you did absolutely nothing with it for the whole month it was assigned. Then, you complain to the teacher that it was too much work and there was no way you could knock it out in a day, despite its design to have been completed in a months effort.
thank you tobias, well I might as well hope. but that being the case I think ill finish off my salvage kit one today (which personally I think is very easy as I run at least 3 dungeons per day)

Well, that depends on the reason “absolutely nothing” was done. If it was because . . . as happened once . . . I have pressing family issues which eat up all my time? Or as was the case with an acquaintance where in the middle of the semester his company folded under and he had to go search for work?
Of course, in both cases, I asked the professor if it was preferable I drop the course or get an extension. They suggested dropping.

That depends on what you need as your 5th completionist. Monthly flips over in… 3 hours and 30ish minutes.

5 days is less days than there are in February? Oh wait no. It’s just shorter than the ONE DAY you thought it would take to complete a monthly. Asking someone to play 5 days out of 28 I don’t think is unreasonable at all.
All I can say is lol @ your logic. Suck it up and start on March’s tomorrow.

Well, this thread sure backfired. Here you are trying to rally support and sympathy but instead all you’re getting is ridicule from people. I’m sorry but you really should have read things beforehand, because it’s certainly not the developers who lacked foresight in this case.
Not really related, but sort of? I got hooped by a bad bug in the game. I apparently had 1 more daily to complete to get my monthly. This is the last day before I ship out for work again…. so I was rather disappointed when I completed my daily and my monthly didn’t add another accomplishment to complete it.
I"m really hoping they’ll report to the bug. I would simply start again, except it marked my daily as complete so I can’t do it again. I also can’t wait for another day (5 days left in the month) since I have to work and won’t have a chance to play enough to get a daily again.
