MonthlyAchievement: World Invaders Killed
Yeah! And what about those uninterested in salvaging! Or what about those uninterested in staying alive! What if you don’t like to gather anything!
It will stay, its meant to get you to participate in all aspects of the game.
It’s an “achievement” for a reason.
The salvaging part was a pain in the butt, but had to it anyways.
Once you get the hang of the WvW thing, it doesn’t take too long to get the achievement.
The achievement itself doesn’t grant you anything so extreme that you’re missing out on something major. It’s a couple of mystic coins and 3% experience toward your next level. If you don’t like PVP, then it should be easy for you to “make up” the experience and silver you are missing out on by doing your normal activities instead of working on the PVP.
Of course, when I participate, I just wait around for locations to get captured while I surf YouTube, so I can go and grab them without much effort. WvW has become a lot more tolerable since I stopped bothering to help.
Yea, I tried that and ended up running for my life with almost a whole guild of people chasing after me; it only works for so long you know.
Okay, was hoping for a dev reply of some kind. Maybe that was a little too hopeful.
I do not intend for this to be a PVE vs. PVP argument. Yes, some players enjoy PVP & PVE. Kudos to such players. I do not enjoy PVP. Nothing more to say and no need to justify my preferred game mode.
On salvaging, gathering, etc for achievements;
Surely salvaging items, DEs, gathering and mundane kills [common to both modes of gameplay] is not sensibly comparable to asking non-PVP players to enter a game mode they may have no interest or enjoyment of.
Feels sorta inconsistent to have daily achievements not associated with PVP specific game modes in any way. Yet monthly achievements are dependent on a PVP game mode.
Still hoping for a dev response. Though I appreciate the player responses. Such as they are.
Would be nice if skilled PvP counts toward it. I never checked if it does. Anyone know?
Really if you don’t care for PvP, still give WvW a try, cuz it’s very easy to be successful with no skill or practice whatsoever, not at all like pvp in other games.. Just find a zerg and run with it. WvW has a lot of PvE elements in it, and you can come with a PvE character and have success.
I guess my point is you don’t have to be interested in it to get the achievement. It’s not like, say, PvPers having any hope of a dungeon set. Just show up, it shouldn’t take long, especially if you go at the start of the WvW cycle.

I don’t really play either exclusively or prefer one over the other, that said I am a big believer on doing what is required if you want a particular thing. If you want map completion, the includes doing the vistas. If you want the monthly that includes doing the PvP portion.
If you dislike those things more than you want the achievement, than don’t do it. Vise versa, suck it up.
Your argument could just as easily be applied to the survivor portion of the monthly. That might not be specifically targeted towards PvE…but it is. Getting monthly survivor in PvP isn’t the easiest thing and it’s a lot more painful when you lose progress. At least you cant get knocked back down to zero with the invader kills.
PvP players have to jump over to PvE. PvE players have to jump over to PvP. It’s an achievement that makes you explore out of your little box if you want it bad enough. Decide if it’s worth the effort and then do it or don’t. But expecting everything to be adjusted to your personal taste so it’s easier for you to get will be a long time wait for a train don’t come.
