Mordrem Leeching Thrasher Annoying Change
Interesting. I thought the counter play on these was to interrupt them.
Probably Latency because I play from SE Asia.Never able to strafe out of that without getting hit.
I never try to range those because the Tentacle attack only affects those who are ranged. If you’re in melee, all you have to worry about is when it does its PBAOE. So, since I never range them, I haven’t noticed any difference.
Yeah don’t range them. Go melee and they’re pretty much defenseless.

Oh, that’s nice to know. I might start dealing with them in melee range instead then. Limits where I can attack from, but at least I won’t be destroyed by them.
Yeah, the best counterplay to the Leeching Thrasher’s vine attack has always been to melee it, or at least to get into melee range. Then, if it does the life leech close-range attack, you back up and use ranged attacks on it.
If they’ve removed the ability to simply run away from the vines, it’s to reinforce that the creature is meant to be done in alternating “melee safe, ranged bad” and “ranged safe, melee bad” phases.
Just use a hard CC to stop the ranged attack.
Just use a hard CC to stop the ranged attack.
This isn’t really viable when solo, unless you have a crazy amount of hard CC. It would also fail on the elites (whereas chill and cripple still work on champion teragriffs).
Alternating melee and ranged sounds the best plan.

Dual bow, Bow/GS, or bow/axes works just fine for Rangers.
Dual bow: On LB, attack at your discretion until he telegraphs his vine attack, then hit him with #4 (Point Blank) to interrupt him, continue attacking until he’s about to do it again, then swap to SB and hit him with #5 to interrupt him. continue until cooldown and swap to longbow and repeat. (note: this is solo play only, as melee folks tend to get upset when you knock things back).
Same with Bow/axes, only with the axes #4 tends to put him right on top of you.
You can do LB/GS as well. Longbow attack, hit with PBS when he telegraphs, swap to GS at the appropriate time fly in with #3 and then interrupt with #5. This also puts you into Melee, which you have pointed out.
With Veterans this is more difficult, but with the standard mobs your cooldowns are fast enough that you don’t have to deal much with his vine attacks.
Just so you know, according to the wiki they stop using it if it fails to hit anything for two pulses. Of course, if it’s tracking you, but hitting other players, that probably doesn’t help…
