I just came back two days ago and found that game had largely not been changed as when I played it a few months ago; and for me that’s a good thing. The game was JUST as I remembered before taking a LOA but after the Feature Pack I’m a little unsettled by the changes, namely, how easy it makes the game seem. These are just a few I have noticed and I’ll get to them one by one:

1. The karma heart pop ups
I mean, come on, how hard was it to find your way to the hearts? It makes it too easy. I like exploring things on my own time. This new change is subtle but even so, intrusive. I don’t need this type of hand holding.

2. The “quest helper” arrow
This adds insult to injury to the karma heart pop up. Not a fan.

3. The level-lock-out of weapon skills.
This is the biggest one I have noticed and the one I am most displeased with so far. I enjoyed level 1 getting all my weapons I need and happily wrecking level one trash mobs getting my weapon skills. This gave me a silent joy and was also very fun for me.

4. The level blocking of quests
This makes the game feel like you’re playing a less open-ended experience and instead following a linear plan that you have to follow. I don’t like the prospect of that being a permanent feature.

These are just the 4 things I have noticed so far and had to shed light on. These changes aren’t really a game breaker, but they feel like an insult to people who already know the game, or those who enjoy finding out how it works.

A suggestion for a quick fix on this would be having a menu option to toggle on/off the karma heart pop ups and the “quest helper” arrow off as well as re-enabling the unlocking of weapon skills by putting them back on a “use” basis.

You can actually turn off the tracker. There’s an option. How’s that for freedom. People who like it can use it, people who don’t can turn it off.

I will say this much about it though, I’d rather play my story missions in huge chunks rather than finish one chapter, level up and then play the next chapter. I’d say that’s good for something (personal opinion). What I am not a fan of (though this is just speculation) is the removal of certain story quests as part of the reorganization of the storyline, bringing in more plot holes than necessary. All I got showing for it though is a post on reddit that I saw along with another forum post, so I can’t totally confirm if this is really the case.

FOR SKYRIM!!!!!

Thank you Stray ^^

@Malk
I actually like doing my story in little starts with the intent on returning later because then I can explore the other content whilst leveling ^^

Well, as you’ve already figured out about the content guide, I’d also like to mention that leveling from 1 to 15 is a lot faster now (and by then you’ll have all your terrestrial weapon skills, most of your aquatic ones, and 3 of your profession mechanics).

I know, I just liked the freedom of being able to unlock all your weapon skills. Now it feels like it takes away from the adage of power to the player. Oh well, play on!

Glad to hear. The “play on!” part, I mean.

While I will not argue that level-gating is not taking away freedom from the player, I will say this: it’s not that big a deal. It may just be the idea that it is locked until certain levels that sort of creates a pre-designated dislike for players, that no matter what others say they will simply hate it.

Anyhoo, welcome back to Tyria!
