Almost every unique and special Item that has come out for Guild Wars 2 has been a gem store item. I know ArenaNet wants to make money but at the same time they need to think of the part of the population that cant effort to use real money(some people have no job, alot of payments, family to take care of) to buy gems. Yes I know you can trade Gold for Gems but if you are like me you do not make near enough gold to warrant trading it in for gems.

It would just be nice to see ArenaNet put some of time into adding new in-game vendor items. You walk around any city and you will find several merchants selling the exact same thing, why not add some new unique items to the game.

I think uniqueness is part of your personal taste.
For me, all gemstore items are not unique for me at all sins you see those items all over the place. I think my Glorious pvp armor is unique. Cause you can’t buy it in the gemstore nor trading post

I am not trying to discount your opinion OP, but why does Anet, “need,” to worry about adding something for free for those who neither continue to support the game financially through gem purchases nor fuel the gem/gold conversion market?

Would it be nice ? Sure, of course it would. But why do the need to give you things beyond what you have paid for ?

How is selling something for gems any different? Convert gold to gems, purchase item.

Agreed. Almost all my favourite armor skins come from dungeons and I really like the weapons that drop or are crafted. Especially some of the quirky ones like most of the foci.

I’ve rarely bought anything from the gem store except minis because most of those skins just don’t interest me. I got the pirate costume before it was changed in the April update and I got a panda hat, but that’s it.

I’m confused. So you are asking them to put some items on a Vendor for the same amount of Gold it would cost you if you exchanged said Gold for Gems and bought the item in the Gem Store?

I suppose that would be a good deal in the future, if the price stayed static.

What you are probably proposing is ‘unique’ items bought from a Vendor at a much reduced price compared to what the cost would be if Gold was exchanged for Gems. That?…probably not going to happen. /shrug

Serious question to the OP: Specifically, what kinds of new items do you want merchants to sell for gold?

Are we talking about more weapons? Armor? Tonics? Environmental Weapons? Minis? Toys?

I’m curious about which area you think needs more variety, and if it’s a popular area like weapons/armor, how you would price it.

I’m sure the day that the 300+ employees of ArenaNet can use in-game gold to pay their mortgage/rent, bills, and other expenses that they’d be more than happy to accept your gold.. Until then, the only way they can afford to feed their families is with Gems.
