For a while now I have been thinking to open a topic for this. I will try to keep it short, but hopefully people will understand the foundation of what I am trying to say.

I’ve always loved GW because of its build system. Not only me I hope. This made me have fun so much in the original game. Now in GW2 they developed a brilliant build system yet again, however as we all know this hardly gets utilized in PvE.

For me zerker is ok, condi is ok, they don’t need to be balanced further. What the game needs, at least for me is more challenging and unique encounters with enemies. Just to give an example, remember GW War In Kryta, where mobs had improved builds and combinations and fights were pretty though at times.

So just to give a few suggestions:

1. Improved AI for enemies or just specific ones maybe. They should be able to do AoE scatter like in GW and just be…less dumb hah.
2. Manage LoS stacking better. There should be penalties for that since as much as it is effective it just makes the game not so fun.
3. Veterans and above should have specific special abilities that will make them unique and interesting to counter. They actually do at the moment, but who ever notices this? Remember how Diablo has those enchanted mobs with sometimes pretty ugly combinations? Not only this will make the game a bit more unpredictable, most of all it will encourage build diversity.

For example if a dungeon is filled with mobs that take less direct damage or reflect it, this will require a bit more condis and support. If mobs are more mobile they will require kiting and control so to maximize DPS on them etc.

Of course adding more challenge is meaningless with the way the loot system works, but I guess that’s another topic of discussion.

In the end the build system in this game (again PvE specifically) should be more abused for what could actually do. Things like protection, regeneration and retaliation are pretty much meaningless when everybody runs zerker and relies on dodge, reflection and other damage mitigation in order to survive. There is no need for any trinity or whatever in this game and there never was. Parties and classes should be picked according to what they actually do best. At the moment everything gets whooshed and blurred in a huge mess of DPS and there is no interest in coordination between different classes. Poor rangers stand in the corner once again.

Thanks for reading and I hope to see some nice comments

Just to add. Apparently this guy likes the game for the same reasons I do. Cheers to that.

Well there is challenging and there is frustrating content. I hope if these are implemented, it would never ever push the game into the frustrating side of things.

Challenging:
The first attempt with other people on any mission in GW1 from Thunderhead Keep forward with only Prophecies skills.

Frustrating:
Using only henches on any mission in GW1 from Thunderhead Keep forward with only Prophecies skills.

Ah those henchies

I remember what Underworld was when only Prophecies was out. Actually I do not promote something like this. Obviously they made the game more accessible in terms of difficulty, which is fine.

I just love making builds in this game and correlating that with other players so there is synergy. This is something the game has potential of, however doesn’t focus on it at all.

Or I don’t know, maybe I’m just being slow and nostalgic
