More guild slots anyone?
How do you need more than 5 guilds?
Guild 1: Raids
Guild 2: World bosses
Guild 3: PvP
Guild 4: WvW
Guild 5: PvE?

A lot of veterans also have a personal guild bank, so you can add that one to the list.
ANet may give it to you.
Not so hard and you don’t really need guilds for pve or world bosses.
I do alot of wvw so i have 4 wvw guilds that I belong to…doesn’t leave alot of room for other things. Most wvw players would be in a similar position. Also been in game since just after launch so have connections that I like to maintain in addition to friends list otherwise the friends list becomes a huge unwieldy thing.
I have 2 personal bank guilds, 2 PvE guilds and a guild that’s from launch of all my friends that came over to Guild Wars 2, but are mostly but not all gone now. None of these are guilds I want to drop yet I wouldn’t mind adding another guild, perhaps a specialty guild or to try out a different PvE guild. So yes, I’d like more guilds slots.

I have a guild bank too. But I’ve never really understood needing a guild for every little thing in GW2.

Maybe I don’t want to drop the guilds I have and I still want to join up with a friend who only does WvW now and be in that guild. Or maybe I want to join up with another friend whose in a different guild so I can listen/talk in their guild chat and if they do things as a group, I can join them without hoping/waiting for an invite to me, a non guildie.
Different strokes for different folks you know, if that’s not anything you’re interested in.

I have friends in other guilds, but then that’s why we have a friends list. I don’t need to be in there guild to do things with them, or there guild. But as you said, different things for different people.

RP, guilds that share a common interest of some sort, RL friends, etc
Yes – I think the number of guild slots should be raised to 10.
I have 3 personal guilds – and one main guild slot.
A lot of veterans have more than one personal guild for special shineys – we are secretly scritt.
I haven’t even considered a personal guild cos I have never had the space, so increasing guild slots to 10 would be great for me.

I guess it depends what game mode you play the most cos if you wvw alot these days you need to belong to multiple wvw guilds to get a decent amount of gameplay especially if you play across different time zones-friends lists don’t help with that! If you pve mainly I guess 5 might be enough. but for me it’s really restrictive.
I have never had the spare slot for a personal guild and I would love one! And I would also like the flexibility to belong to a raid guild so yeah I would love more slots.
wtf at having multiple bank guilds
wtf at having multiple bank guilds
I have 2. One is miscellaneous storage and the other I made because I found out that when HoT hit that it would be expensive and difficult to get a full 250 slot bank guild. I figured I could either sell it later or use it for more storage, depending on the circumstances. (Right now the bank guilds are selling for several hundred gold)

Hate to say it, but it’s your choice to have 2 guild banks, and your choice to have 2 social guilds.
Back in GW1 you had your guild and that was it. Alliance came along later, but really it was still one guild.

Guild bank slots are less likely to be supported if you run into issues over regular bank slots. Does this mean support wouldn’t help you at all? No. However, I would be cautious about loading your personal guild banks up with anything that you feel has high value. This is mainly why I never bothered with a personal guild bank and instead use a mule or two.
If you use a personal guildbank, with only you as member, how you run into issues?
Anyway the multi-guild-system is a little weird in my opinion. As the otherguys showed examples, some people have guilds for nearly every purpose now. In former times you had one guild with people you like and some you don’t (which is part of life). Some were skilled to run hardcore content, others were interested in other stuff. You had an average group of people.
The thing is, we can set the limit to 8, 10, 15, 20 it does not matter. There will always be people who want more. The more slots we have, the less important guilds become. And that should not be the goal. Looking at the guy with the list of 10, it really reminds me of the LFG tool.
I wish they would remove the ability to join more than 1 guild,i think being able to join so many guilds removes that loyalty element, the feeling of belonging to a group not tons of groups,i never liked how gw2 handles guilds….

I have to disagree Nury, its because of my loyalty that I don’t want to have to drop the guilds that I belong to. As I explained, 4 are wvw guilds that all run at different times. I love these guilds hence my dilemma. You can belong and be loyal to your 1 guild if there are 5 or 10 guild slots-you have no desire to use them but some of us do and that does not make us any less loyal than you.
Sure OP. They’ll be 800gems per slot.

Of course it’s my choice, just as it’s yours to be more focused than I am. You asked why someone would want/need more guilds. I offered a specific example.
If you instead asked, “does anyone who wants more than 5 guilds think it should be a priority,” I would instead of said, “personally, no — I’d sure like to be in 10 guilds (here’s why), but I think there are other, more important QoL changes ANet could make that would benefit more people.”
……
being in so many guilds, r u even contributing to all of those guilds?
or r all of those guilds nothing but a LFG to you?
think about it.

Of course, I’ve thought about it.
I chat, I participate in the type of events that make sense for the individual guild, I help folks out. Some people like to focus a lot on one type of thing; I like to bounce around. It’s not up to anyone other than the guild’s leadership (and members) about whether my kind of contribution is sufficient for that guild’s health.
And definitely yes, I would join GW2 Community or Teq Terror Squad, which for me (as well as many others) would be pick up group guilds. However, currently, given the limit of 5 guilds (and aside from my guild bank), I am not interested in being in a PUG-oriented guild.
Five is an arbitrary limit to the number of guilds; it could have been four or six. Or one. Or ten. If it were higher, I’d belong to more. The fact that so many people have said they can’t see why someone wants more than a few guilds (in this thread and the many others on the same topic) suggests that ANet considered all of this already and chose 5 because they felt it would be a good compromise that would well serve the vast majority of players.
And I can’t fault that — as I said above, I don’t think ANet should devote a lot of resources into the idea. I’m only saying that if they increased the limit, I’d be pleased, because I have a use for extra slots.
