More lively chat with face software

I just don’t get the point of such a thing.
Don’t see why people dislike this. I personally enjoyed it in everquest 2
I don’t understand the functionality of facial recognition software in the game. Do you just mean video chat? Video chat is a very different technology.
Aside: built-in voice chat would be nice. LOTRO did it and it could be useful in pug situations.

He means stuff that syncs your real face and your toon’s face via cam, so if you open your mouth inrl so does your character.
Everquest 2 had thus and it’s a very old game.
And to the people who say “char and asura will be difficult to blah blah”, everquest 2 also had beasty races and managed it still, quite well may I add.

Many people … eh? Not convinced at all. I am certainly never going to waste any time on it, not even for the whole “well this is new, lets poke at it a bit”. Mostly because I would need to get a camera which would be otherwise useless.
You’re asking Anet to essentially remake every single face in the game with a higher poly count as well as either real time bone/joint rigs or a massive library of morph targets to facilitate the entire system.
Never mind writing software to work with their engine to make the whole thing run as intended.
I can safely say that they won’t do this. Not in a game with an incredibly low amount of emotes as is. Hell, we still can’t even sit in chairs and even that seems like a pipe dream at best.
Too much work, too many resources and too much time spent on a QoL change that only a fraction of the community at best will care about, let alone enjoy.
Voice chat would be a +, but this seems excessive.

I used to think (build op, pls nerf) like you, but then I took a nerf to the knee.
I’m curious how one ‘beats the game’. Would you be so kind as to elucidate?
Why would you take away my ability to bluff about being a nice guy?
I dunno how extensive the current face animations are. During cutscenes they seem pretty advanced actually. That said, it requires alot of work to get to work where it should and to disable it where it shouldn’t.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
Seems like a nice addition, but I doubt there’s enough interest for it. Anet would probably use a lot of resources on this and then end up with a small amount of people using it.
