As of right now you can get ascended armor and weapons from either crafting, doing raids, fractals, collections and very rare drops. I was hoping if you could also add in another way. Something more generalized. Such as a vendor who sells them in LA. It would be something like this. Thanks.

So basically take out all the gating systems? :P

Why do you feel this is needed tho?

There are 2 ways to get Asc. armor and weapons without crafting: Magnetite Shards from raids; and the laughably abysmal drop rates anywhere but higher tier Fractals. That’s it. Other than those ways, you either craft them directly or craft GM Marks and use the reward tracks in WvW and PvP.

The Caladbolg quest requires a Vision Crystal, an Account Bound Ascended component. What are the odds people who don’t high-level FotM or raid have the spare Ascended to salvage in the hope of getting one? Of course, they can craft it…

Pretty sure I got my Vision Crystal from logging in for a month.

I’m a garbage player and I managed a Vision Crystal without any drama. The mats can be gathered out of the special nodes in S3 maps and karma to buy the Obsidian comes from doing the map dailies. The soul shards to buy the Augur Stone came from just doing Daily Completionist. You’d have to have a profession, but I used guides to manage costs and maximize my laziness.

I’ve only gotten one Lesser one. ;(

We used to be able to get ascended from PvP & Fractal vendors, without crafting. ANet looked at the system and decided it didn’t fit the economic balance/reward balance for which they were aiming.

So they could change their mind again. I wouldn’t, however, expect them to do that anytime soon, especially not without a really powerful argument that they haven’t seen yet.

Or get one from their monthly log in rewards if they just once choose the ascended reward option instead of laurels. There is that.

Laurels = your gating system
