I feel like the choice during character creation is too… limited and unoriginal. Personally, I would love to see blue or completely black skin color as an option for a Norns, for example. What do you think?
Let’s keep skin colors in the area of what’s physically possible, shall we?
There’s already a near black skin option. If you want any darker you will have to make a Sylvari. Humans and Norn on Tyria aren’t Shrek, or Smurfs, or Castanics.

Norn and humans are meant to be at least somewhat realistic. Unnatural hair colour is one thing (considering hair dye is commonplace) but unnatural skin colour is a whole different kettle of fish.
I also think that offering crazy colours to humans, norn and charr (e.g. demands for pink or blue fur) would detract from the differences in customisation available to each race.

In-game, there are already very dark skin colours that closely reflect what we can see in the real-world. They aren’t pitch-black, but a very rich, dark shade of brown.
As for blue skin, this wouldn’t be realistic as naturally, blue pigments are rare in nature. The bluest skin can be (naturally*) is on the dead, as there is no pink/red pigmentation from blood circulation.
Your last sentence makes me think that you believe that skin-colour is how it is for camouflage, or at least you believe it should be. That’s just not how things work, I’m afraid. :P
I doubt that we’ll get the crazy colours you’ve asked for. People have been asking for more fur colours for charr for a very long time, and that suggestion has never gained any traction.
*There is at least one blue guy out there, but that’s because he’s been taking colloidal silver for decades.
Yes and I’m saying there is a very very dark skin colour… it is on my main that I have been playing for nearly 3 years, unless I’ve had my monitor settings incorrect all that time.

And when I tried to create Norn or Human characters… well… the pretty boring skin color was the thing that bothered me the most. So I came here to ask if any of you feel the same.

For Norn, you could select one of the tattoo designs that cover most of your face, and then choose a skin colour that looks like a tattoo colour itself (very dark or very light works well). Then you could wear armour that covers the rest of the regular skin-coloured parts.
I’ve seen norn males cosplay as the hulk very well by doing something similar, and then choosing a headpiece or haircut that hides the rest of the regular skin colour.
As for humans, you could always try getting one of those polyluminescent refractors. These tone your whole character a particular colour. They don’t come in blue, but if you wish for one I’m sure it’s more likely to be granted than asking for blue skin colour.

I understand this correctly. Makes me wonder about unrealistic armor and a few other things, but that doesn’t matter. However, my question was not about ArenaNet – it was about your own opinions.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a greater variety of skin colors for asura, though. It’s all greys and browns with them, I’d like to see a proper white and some more shades of blue at least.

Now, that doesn’t mean i want to see blueskinned humans running around. It’s bad enough i keep seeing purple (or orange)-haired Saiyian charrs regularly now so i am actually glad they cut back on some of the more ridiculous looking choices. It’s just i can see there’s no consequence to that.
Also, i’d like for the human ethnicity choices to be expanded, so we could make characters of elonian and canthan descent.

Yeah, because we all know how unrealistic it is for people to get a haircut or color their hair…. that never happens in the real world after all.
I still want tattoos for humans. Let the Norn have their tribal designs, and give humans the old school and nautical type tats. It would fit in perfectly with the lore too, with all the pirates and bandits knocking around.
Norn with all-over body paint would not be a terrible idea, for what it’s worth.
